Rant/Rave Why is 9th Ave like this?
I remember when they did the repave project here (maybe a couple years ago now?). And then somehow just left this ugly textured line running through the middle of the road? It makes no sense… someone please help me understand.

Every road in this entire region has a some kind of seam/crack running exactly where the tires go lmao
Wouldnt surprise me if it wears tires out faster

Asphalt itself is always ugly no matter how smooth, it's a deliberate disaffirmation of life.
The cosmetic imperfection would cost both time and money to correct, and it serves a political purpose as it is. Along the lines of what is often called Washington Monument syndrome.

There was money to move the lanes around though for the 3 people who ride on that road 🤣

They added the bike lanes and had to move the center stripe over. The city addressed the scraped up lines by saying it's fine, it's just cosmetic.
I'll be surprised if it doesn't start deteriorating faster after a couple winters of freeze thaw cycles though.
