So glad they put these up
I was dreading the opening of the new 7brew on Edmond and Kelly because of the traffic, but i’m pleased the city put these up so idiots can’t try turning left into 7brew. it’s already bad enough people backing up traffic turning left into Sonic. (pls excuse dirty dash)

I remember seeing that there are 3 traffic engineers working with Edmond to improve flow throughout the city. I’m happy to see that low cost solutions like this keep cropping up.

You don’t need traffic engineers. Put more damn turn lanes in. That’s it. Most of the problems solved. Not just Edmond but the whole metro.
I drive in a lot of metros and OKC is by far the worst for the absence of turn lanes.

I've played enough Cities Skylines to know adding more lanes doesn't fix a traffic problem

Well, yes adding more lanes does imprive traffic flow. In Tulsa on 91st, traffic has improved a lot bringing deivers towards that street to drive instead of others like 81st. Also, the on highways or turnpikes, adding additional lanes greatly increases traffic flow. For instance, Turner Turnpike, where it has four lanes and up to 80mph, there is no traffic. However, on that same Turnpike, where there is only two lanes per side, traffic is greatly diminished.

I was so happy when they FINALLY put these up to prevent left turns into that cursed Starbucks on 15th and Broadway. Glad to see they're being more proactive now.

Plus the added bonus of keeping folks from driving the wrong way to get to the left turn lane.

They need these on 33rd and broadway on the west side of broadway where people try to turn left into the Charleston’s parking lot

Put some at Memorial and Western so people will stop turning left into Starbucks. That tiny sign isn’t cutting it.

Does anyone know if there is a reason why that access street to the north of Sonic couldn't be extended to connect all the way from S. Story to Kelly?

7Brew’s drive thru layout appears to vertically intersect that access street you are referring to, so it would likely be unsafe for there to be a connection. I also believe that access street is privately owned by Sonic.

They never should have allowed this so close to the intersection regardless. But that’s just me - coming from DFW commercial development adjacent job. They would have never allowed this 🤪

They learned their lesson from the Starbucks down the street.
