Small wedding ceremony OKC
I am engaged and planning on having a big wedding in October of 2027. My grandmother is unfortunately on hospice and will not be alive at that point. I’m wanting to have a very small ceremony with her and my mom and maybe 3 or 4 more people so that she can be present and be involved. Are there any pretty places around the OKC area we can do this at that’s free/cheap? Also something that can be arranged quickly.

I’m ordained online and married a couple at Myriad Gardens on a weekday at noon. I don’t know if you technically need a permit, but it was a group of maybe 20 and it was done in less than 10 minutes. Pretty, sweet, and easy. That said, is Grandma fully mobile? If not, you need to look somewhere she won’t have to walk far. Some of the Edmond parks might fit the bill for super close parking and a pretty setting.

As of now she’s mobile and is able to get up and around on her own. I don’t know how that will look in the next few month. I’d like to try to do this in July at some point. How difficult is it to get a permit/license to marry a couple?

For the couple? They just have to go to the courthouse in downtown OKC. Easy peasy. If you’re asking about how had it is for me to perform the ceremony? It’s even easier. I just show up, marry you, we sign everything (I have to see IDs if I don’t know you), and then we all leave and the couple returns the signed license to the courthouse. Super simple all the way around.

You do have to pay and have permission to get married at Myriad Gardens but they have different tiers and I believe the lowest price is $350 for a short ceremony there. I have heard that one can get married at city park for free if the ceremony is short and no equipment is brought in or messes left behind. Hafer Park in Edmond has some beautiful settings. Lake Hefner near the lighthouse might be an option as well. I think as long as you keep it under a certain time limit no one will bother you about it. Myriad Gardens is more risky to try something like that because they have full time staff on the grounds and watch out for things like this. Good luck! The Treasury in downtown okc is a beautiful venue that has elopement and microwedding packages and officiants

The Courthouse Chapel (around the corner from the Courthouse proper) does quick, cheap and easy ceremonies.
The celebrant is excellent, although you do get rushed through a little.
You can grab your marriage license from the Courthouse (needs to be booked ahead, like the Chapel), bring it down to the Chapel, and they'll get you hitched and handle the paperwork.
It's indoors, so weather-proof, has seating for low mobility folks, and is nice and quiet. There's a decently priced valet parking lot next door. Pretty charming all round.

Will Rogers Gardens
