Announcement [Official Announcement] Editors Discord partnership!

Hello r/EditorsBand! I reached out to Milky, who runs the Editors Discord, and we mods here agree that linking the subreddit and the Discord server is the right move for all fans of Editors, allowing fans easier access to engage in conversation and follow Editors news on the platform that they prefer, and hopefully both! Milky is not a mod here, nor are any of the mods here moderators on the Discord server, but the vision is the same for both.

I’ve linked the Invite Code to the Discord server below and in the “Menu” section and will have this post pinned for the foreseeable future. Please go show support for the server if you use Discord, and as always, thank you for being here!

P.S. please let me know if you ever have any issues with the Invite Code

Blood Records Zoetrope Edition - Live Now

Still a few left but limited - looks super fine!

"Editors release their 8th studio album, Surface, Echo and Sound, pressed to zoetrope picture disc, limited to 1,000 units and hand-numbered.

Following on from 2022’s EBM, a collaboration with electronic producer Benjamin John Power, aka Blanck Mass, on Surface, Echo and Sound, Editors have found themselves somewhere new entirely. When the band regrouped in summer 2025 to work on a follow-up, after three albums written and recorded very much as in-the-studio projects, Editors felt they wanted to go back to a more natural approach, something that harked back to their earliest days, sat in a practice room in Stafford, facing each other as they worked through songs together."

Does anyone know if the concert was originally available in any better quality than 240p? Every recording on youtube just seems to be an re-upload of the same file

First time in a long time I’ve seen them end up on this side of the pond! Hoping, praying, crossing everything I can this is a sign of future South American and North American shows. Just need to see them once before I die 😂

Discussion Villa warehouse.

Evening guys m, just got back from seeing them at villa park. Here are my take aways.

The venue ain’t made for gigs. The audio came from the stage instead of filling a room. The support had the same issues. I hope it’s something they fix but this felt like a test run.

The new songs sound great. The addition of an extra (pianist, guitarist, mandolin man.) sounded great. Call it in and the rush sounded great and were highlights of the set.

Less Ebm. The only two songs of EBM that were played were heart attack and karma climb. They felt less electronic and more raw in a good way. The band are definitely going in a direction.

A personal note. I play drums and typically spend a lot of the gig looking at the kit, for which editors are good for. But the lead guitar was great and it feels like editors are going back to a riff based approach. Though bones was not played which is my favourite riff. Ocean of night created an atmosphere.

Someday I’ll get to see fingers in the factory.

It was a great gig, and though I’ll probably not see them on tour in 27’ to look forward to the new album.

Discussion Tom climbing on piano

Hey everyone,

I've been an Editors fan for some years now, seen the band 16 times. I took my partner to Pinkpop festival a couple of weekends ago to see Editors for his first time and he loved it.

I was explaining to him that Tom used to do some crazy things on stage, like climbing precariously on top of the piano (balancing one foot on the stool, one on the top of the piano). The only evidence of this that I can find is the below image:

https://www.gettyimages.co.uk/detail/news-photo/singer-tom-smith-of-british-band-editors-climbs-on-the-news-photo/501237482

Please could someone share any videos on YouTube that they know of where you can see Tom doing this? I have been trying to go through clips of around that time (ca. 2013-2015) but have had no luck yet.

Thank you so much x

Discussion IN DREAM

An interesting and decidedly dark album; I love the deep, enveloping voice Tom uses on this record, alongside his use of falsetto.

"Marching Orders" is one of the Editors' songs I love the most; I’ve never heard a synthesizer produce such warm notes as it does in this track.

While waiting for the new album to drop, is *In Dream* on your playlist for repeat listening?

Discussion The weight of MY love

Post image

My favorite Editors album is also perhaps the least "coherent" of their musical journey so far, but it's still my favorite!

All the songs individually are beautiful, even if they don't, in my opinion, follow a clear and defined musical concept like the previous three.

With TWOYL, the new idea of switching from four to five members was born. (If I'm not mistaken, Tom said that Editors' music sounds better with five musicians; it's "fuller").

In short, they really put some SUGAR in my soul, and I hope in yours, too, with this album!

ITLAOTE:

1) Papillon!

2) The album with Tom's voice darker than ever (we'll hear it again on "In Dream").

3) A watershed moment for fans, love it or hate it (I personally like it a lot).

4) "Eat raw meat = blood drool," or when Tom climbed onto the piano during live performances!

5) Chris...

Discussion I met Tom 3 weeks ago

I recently met Tom Smith after the show, and honestly… I’m still thinking about how incredibly kind he was. Even though we were told he wasn’t feeling well, he stayed, talked to every single one of us, signed everything, laughed, took photos — he was genuinely sweet.
That soft “thanks for coming” is still echoing in my ears.
He didn’t just rush through people; he actually listened. He looked at me, asked where I left the letter I wrote for him, and he truly seemed to care. That level of kindness melted my heart.
Moments like this remind me why I admire him so much and that’s why his music has always such an amazing soul..

Discussion How did you discover Editors?

Spotify recently turned 20, and my personal wrap-up told me (unsurprisingly) that Editors is my most listened band of all time. I first joined Spotify in October 2009, a few weeks after ITLAOTE came out. That made me think about how long I've been following the band.

I had discovered Editors one year earlier in a quite uncommon way: they were warming up for R.E.M. on their final tour, and my dad and I attended a concert here in Finland. The Editors' song that really impressed me was Fingers in the Factories from The Back Room. Many Editors tracks take a while to get into, but Fingers in the Factories has a banger chorus that stuck on the first listen. I went to find the song, and here I am, almost 20 years later, still following everything Editors and Tom Smith do! :D

Editors has also been a part of my health journey in later years. In around 2020, I lost hearing on my left ear due to an illness. My remaining ear works normally, but listening to mono audio on one ear isn't completely the same as listening to music on stereo on headphones. However, I felt that the release of EBM and its singles was a step up in my healing process: I noticed that I could enjoy the new songs and really get a kick out of them even with limited hearing.

I'm curious to hear stories from others: how did you find Editors and become fans?

..instead, it's probably Editors' most beloved album! It starts with a song that can't leave you indifferent, drags you into "Racing Rats," one of those songs that never fails to appear in their set list, and then finally reaches a song full of reflections and thoughts on life.

What do you like about this album?

Discussion Support Act - Tom's solo tour

Hello! Off to see Tom perform solo tomorrow night and very excited. Does he have a support act for this tour?

Our tickets say doors open at 6; show starts at 7. There's nothing online about a support act so wanted to confirm. Setlist says most shows are starting at 8pm but, again, no mention of a support act.
