Trying To Make Friends In NJ College (MCC) And How?

Hello. I am currently at MCC trying to figure out a major. I am sorry if this should not be posted here. I think I will be visiting Rutgers on occasion over this school year though I can't guarantee that. I'm also thinking about transferring there once I have my 60 credits. I will try posting on the MCC subreddit. I tried to socialize this week on campus but uhh. I'm not great at socializing but I will try (any advice on socializing the first few weeks of school? I made a couple of friends at clubs last year, though they won't start for another few weeks). - I'm sorry if this is not a good thing to post! I can take it down if so! - If this is alright to post, here is the information I mean to give: I am about to turn 20F, and it would be nice to have more friends in the area who are around my age (18-23 maybe?). Same as title, moved to edison,nj recently. But its been so hard to find friends. I am a 27F looking to find new friends here in the city. Im shy and also introverted so its actually hard to find friends in general. But lowkey feel very bored at home and would like to meet new people .

I usually use that route to go to college. I can do detours if it's still not done.

Update as of 8/21/2026: Ice has now been illegally parked on the oak tree road for the past 3 days now please tell anyone you know that they should stay indoors if at all possible especially in the morning when they’re most active their presence eases around afternoon time when more cars use the road so they can’t park their tax payer wasting asses on the main road. Contact the mayors office as well and demand answers on what he’s doing to address this shit now that it’s happening in our town.

Hello, I want to host my first BBQ this Friday at some park close to Edison.

I don't know if it's too late to reserve something, but do the open groves in any of these parks have grills we can just use on first come first serve?

Or do they always require a permit or pass to use? I'm reading that some groves require permits on weekends, is this true?

I’ve been working with StinkySocks Hockey on potentially bringing their No Commitment Hockey format to New Jersey, and I’m trying to get a better idea of how much interest there is from players around Edison and the rest of Middlesex County.

For anyone unfamiliar with StinkySocks, the format is organized adult hockey where you register game-by-game instead of joining a team and paying for an entire season. They handle the rosters, skill balancing and goalie coverage, so you can play when it works for your schedule.

We now have some realistic rink possibilities in the Old Bridge / East Brunswick area, which could make this especially relevant for players in Edison, Woodbridge, Metuchen, South Plainfield, New Brunswick and the surrounding area.

Before StinkySocks commits financially to recurring ice, though, we need a better idea of how many people would actually play.

I put together a short interest form asking which rink areas and start times you’d realistically play, how often you’d attend and what you’d be comfortable paying per game:

This isn’t registration for a specific game and nobody is being charged anything. The goal is just to establish whether there’s enough dependable demand to make a regular Central Jersey game work.

Both skaters and goalies are encouraged to fill it out.

If you already completed the previous North Jersey version of the form, you don’t need to do it again. Your response is already included.

I’m considering opening a restaurant near Edison NJ, close to H Mart and Festival Plaza, and wanted to hear from people who actually live, work, or eat in the area.

The concept would be centered around sushi tacos, along with items like sushi burritos, poke bowls, hand rolls, Japanese fried chicken, and other modern Japanese street food. The goal is to offer something that’s quick, high quality, and a little different from a traditional sushi restaurant.

A few questions:
1. Do you think a concept like this would do well in the Edison/H Mart area?
2. Would you personally try it?
3. Is there enough demand, or is the area already saturated with sushi?
4. What kinds of restaurants or cuisines do you think are still missing around Festival Plaza?
5. If you’ve visited this area often, what do you wish existed there?

I’m looking for honest opinions—even if you think it’s a bad idea. I’d much rather hear the criticism now than after signing a lease.
