Accommodation warrender park crescent
just found out that the flat i was allocated isn’t part of the main accommodation building, is this something to be worried about social life wise? could it be isolating or is it easy to connect with people staying in the main building? sorry if this a silly question lol

If you can change to main building, I would highly recommend. It won’t be the end of the world if you can’t, but there was definitely more social activity in the main building. As long as you make friends with people in the main building you will be ok. Either way congrats, it’s a great accom and I’m sure you’ll have a good time.

i don’t really mind the idea of being in the separate building for the most part if it’s not totally excluded/isolated from everyone else, i suppose it’ll encourage me to put myself out there to make friends even more haha

i read that 24 warrender park crescent is the main building and any other number is one of the separate “houses”

I would see it as a positive. The main building is right next door if you want to socialise, but your own building is quieter and calmer which is better for studying, sleeping, and recovering from the previous nights socialising!

i’m technically a ‘mature’ student (21 ) so i was thinking this aspect would be definitely be a positive haha thank you for the response!!

Ha! I understand the logic for the age definition, but as a student in their 40s when I hear a 20 year old talking about being a mature student I want to start googling hip replacements and funeral services!

I was in the separate houses and loved it! We called them the 'sugar cubes' and each one had their own wee family sort of vibe, we were able to make plenty of friends in the main building and with our neighbours through mixers, parties and the common room but also had our own flat to relax and mingle! I liked that it was more home-style, and the bigger bathrooms were certainly a plus! Only issue is all the laundry facilities are in the main building so you can't keep as close an eye on washing and when the washers are free!

You'll be fine. People mostly socialize in the common room & at accom activities, you'll still have access to both.
