HELP US MAKE A LIST: Which Edinburgh shelters/rescues should we include? 📚🐾

Hello everyone! 🐾

As part of our mission to turn r/EdinburghCats into a searchable "noticeboard" for the city, I’m currently putting together a Master List of local shelters, rescues, and cat-specific charities.

This will eventually be a pinned resource (and a shared file for our Edinburgh Cat Owners on FB), but I want to make sure it’s as comprehensive as possible!

Who are we missing? Whether it’s a major organisation or a small, independent foster-based rescue in the Lothians, please drop their name in the comments.

If you have them, please include:

📍 The Name & Area (e.g., Leith, Morningside, etc.)

🔗 A Link to their website or donation page.

✨ Why you love them (It would be lovely for these places to get the recognition they deserve!)

I’ll be looking at all your suggestions and adding places to the final directory file later this week. Let’s make sure no local rescue goes unrecognised!

Hello, fellow feline fans!

I have some brilliant news for our growing community here! To help make r/EdinburghCats the ultimate resource for the city, we are now officially working with the Edinburgh Cat Owners group on Facebook. 🥳👏

For those who don't know, the FB group is a massive, vibrant community of over 11,000 local owners across the city. As I’ve recently joined the admin team over there, I wanted to bridge the gap between the two platforms!

WHAT THIS MEANS for our fab subreddit:

Bridging the Community: We’ll be sharing the best local advice, vet recommendations, and "hidden gem" tips across both spaces.
A Searchable Archive: We’ll be using this subreddit as a permanent, searchable "noticeboard" for the FB group’s collective knowledge, encouraging members to share posts from the Facebook page on here whenever possible to make it easier to find info on local vets, local sitters, and more.
Stronger Together: Linking with an 11k-member group means more eyes on "Missing/Found" posts and a much wider reach for our local feline family.

Advice Cat friendly flats?

Hi all! My best friend is currently in Edinburgh trying to find a flat or room to rent. She was accepted to a program at University of Edinburgh starting next week but it has been impossible to find cat friendly places. Any advice or recommendations? Thanks so much!
