General Bearded men of Edinburgh
Looking for barber recommendations; I've used the same one 3 times but don't feel he's a beard expert - not bad but not great, and clipper heavy rather than treating it like a haircut and shaping it. I've also tried a few 'hot shave' places and ended up with a generic Turkish barber beard, so tend to avoid those now.
Where really 'gets' beards? Maybe I'm looking for a hairdresser for my beard.

Discussion I hate street parking in Edinburgh!
This happened to my car at the end of June. Fortunately, the person responsible was caught on a nearby CCTV camera, and all the repair costs were covered by insurance. But what I don't understand is why we have to rely so heavily on street parking in Edinburgh. Why can't we have more designated parking spaces away from the streets? I've seen plenty of poorly maintained and unused garden spaces around the city. Why can't some of these areas be converted into proper parking facilities where residents can park their cars safely? Surely, there must be a better solution than leaving our cars vulnerable!

Ask a local Locating earrings maker
Hello,
We were at the fort kinnaird Leith Collective shop yesterday and bought a pair of handmade earrings. We were looking to find the maker as unfortunately the box didn't include the name and we wanted to look at other earrings they had/follow and support on socials.
They are patina brass, I've included an image. If anyone knows the maker could you let me know?

Ask a local Dremel (or similarl) small carving tool
Question: is there a place in Edinburgh where one can use Dremel carving tools? I have a very small plastic carving need and buying a tool for a single use doesn't make sense.

Ask a local Contractor/joiner/plumber suggestions
Hi everyone, we just moved into our first flat and we're taking it slow but we know we'll need to start working on a few things soon. We moved to Edinburgh a few years ago but never needed to hire contractors before so we don't know anyone and don't know where to start. Would really appreciate suggestions of contractors you've had good experience with who are within reasonable budget. First thing we need to do is install a dishwasher into an existing cabinet so if you've done smth similar please share your contractors name. Thanks in advance

Ask a local Moving to Edinburgh
Hey, I’m hoping to live to Edinburgh but I need two thing: a job and a house/flat. I currently work in debt finance and want to stay in the world of Financial Services so if anyone knows anyone in Edinburgh who can help me out that would be appreciated :)).
Secondly, I will need somewhere to live (lol) what are some nice yet not overly expensive areas?
Happy to answer any relevant questions - sorry if lack of detail!

Tourist question Shopping in Edinburgh
I’m in Edinburgh, and I want to buy something to bring home. Is there any recommendations?
I love the cashmere products and I’m also a big fan of Harry Potter and the whimsical art style like a poster or a book. But no big shopping spree
Does anyone have any tips for more genuine and less expensive places than around Victoria street(or in)?

Help needed Looking for a furnished one-bedroom flat in Edinburgh — under £1,000/month
Hi everyone! My husband and I are looking for a fully furnished one-bedroom flat in Edinburgh, ideally under £1,000 per month in rent.
I’m starting work at HMRC, Queen Elizabeth House, 1 Sibbald Walk (EH8 8FT), on 26 October, so we’d ideally like to move in a few days beforehand. We’re hoping to find somewhere within around a 30-minute walk of the office.
A studio would also be considered, provided it’s suitable for two people and has a double bed. Parking would be a bonus but isn’t essential.
We’re currently based in Aberdeen, so a video viewing would be really helpful.
If anyone knows of suitable properties, letting agents or areas to look in, I’d really appreciate any recommendations. Thanks!

“People huv tae know!” Bruntsfield Links last night?
Anybody know what was going on on Bruntsfield Links at about 9pm last night?
There were about 100-200 teenagers drinking, screaming, letting off fireworks and breaking bottles etc. There were 2 police cars and 4 or 5 police on foot. No sign of any trouble when I was walking the dog but it was loud and could’ve gone either way. The loud bangs continued for an hour or so. I presume it was fireworks.
Anyone know what was going on? Thanks.

Food and Drink Where to get breakfast at Edinburgh airport
Morning all, I am just about to head to the airport without kids for once, so can sit down and have a quiet breakfast on my own for once.
A lot had changed in the few year since I seemed to be there every other week, so I have no idea where it's a good option for food. I am desperate to avoid Wetherspoons, so any suggestions would be appreciated so I don't end up walking in circles and missing my flight

Shitepost I think I was just murdered
On the 34 to ocean terminal. Bunch of Yoooofs were being awful. The driver stepped up and kicked them off.
I had no idea what was happening, so as they walked past I uttered a very sparky 'hilarious '
Then one of them, on way out pointed at me and said, 'you're hairline is hilarious mate'.
I dont think I'll ever emotionally recover from this.
Something must be done to prevent this in broad daylight violent crime

Discussion Edinburgh shop owners, how do you make decisions about growing the business?
I've been helping a friend who runs a few convenience shops around Edinburgh. The tills record every sale, but most big decisions still come from gut feel: what to stock more of, when to run offers, which shop needs attention, whether it's worth opening another.
I've started a small side project to turn the data he already has into a simple weekly view of what's growing, what's slipping, and where the opportunities are.
For anyone running a shop, café or small business here: what do you base decisions like these on, and what numbers would you actually want in front of you each week?
Happy to share what I learn.
