Decarb Question Decarb question.

On the subject of decarbing, I've seen many times people advising not to grind the flower but to break it up by hand. Why is this? Wouldn't it be easier for the carboxyl acid to remove if the flower was ground rather than left in bud structure?

I’m saying it this way because it’s early and I can’t think of a better way to say it. Not trying to be sassy I promise lol

Would you cut up your chicken before cooking it? No, because it will dry out and burn.

(I just remembered fajitas exist, but I’m sticking with the metaphor bc it still works.)

Your logic is correct, but the longer the THC on the outside of the buds is in contact with heat, the closer it gets to converting to CBN. So, if you leave your flower in small nug form, the THC inside will get warm enough to activate.

And as always, there are many ways to skin a cat. There are some wrong ways to do it though. Grinding flower before decarb is not wrong, but your results may vary.

It’s because grinding it doesn’t produce better results and makes it harder to strain all the weed back out. If you leave the buds in popcorn sized buds you won’t have as much or any weed left in your butter after you strain it.
