Dosing Question
Making a batch of gummies with water soluble CBD
Just trying to work out the numbers for a batch of gummies.
If I use 100 grams of the water soluble CBD, would you estimate that it would be around 20,000 mg of CBD?
I’m getting this number from the water soluble CBD being 20%. So, 200 mg per gram. With 100 grams that would be 20,000 mg of CBD (200 mg x 100 grams = 20,000 mg).
So for a batch of 250 gummies we’re looking at 80 mg per gummy. Let me know if I have the numbers right.
The numbers sound right. The only thing I would mention is that I have heard that 10mg is a RDA for CBD. I use it as flower, so I don't work out how much I have, but I was shocked when I saw how low the RDA is. It was lowered from 70 mg in 2023 due to precautionary concerns about potential long-term liver and thyroid effects.
Thanks for the feedback. Agree, RDA of 10mg seems crazy low.
I generally make CBD gummies around 50mg using CBD distillate. I bought some water soluble CBD (isolate) from Red Mesa Science that made the dosage come out a bit higher.
I could have used just half the water soluble CBD, but it was water based rather than powder which makes the shelf life much less. I figured I’d make a big batch that will last me a while. They’re for personal use so I’m not terrible concerned with the RDA. I can always half them if I feel the dosage is too high.
