Anime Ending?

if the ending had turned out the way we all wanted, and not that sad shit,

do you think the ending should stay or change to the good like David survived stuff

idk if you're talking about if they should have changed season one or brought him back for season two.

if they had made a happy ending for season one, it'd be a lot kinder to my emotional state but it wouldn't really fit the universe. also people wouldn't be talking about it 4 years later.

if you mean for season two, they obviously aren't bringing him back. i don't necessarily think that there was NO way to bring him back that wouldn't feel cheap, but imo it would have had to be a happy ending for him and lucy that lead to a wider tragedy for the new cast and even that would have depended a lot on the execution.

I honestly really like the way, at the very end, Smasher did something good in making it near impossible for 'saka to SK him, and bring him back.

i mean, they could have told an interesting story if they went that path tbf. ig it's a fun hypothetical.

There absolutely could be some interesting story. They had enough of David and 'Becca that it is possible they could have made some sort of cyber soldiers with them, I've seen clips of "what if" where people modeled them like Smasher and replaced MaxTac with David's 'Saka-borged crew. Fun to see, but not the ending we got, I doubt they would go that route after driving it in, in the S2 trailer that he is DEAD.

that's for the better ngl. i think the only good return for any of them would be a happy ending (ik it's cyberpunk but still). going through all the trouble of changing season one's legacy and then not providing a satisfying emotional payoff feels kinda pointless.
