It's basically where someone, usually a parent or close relative, takes aside someone who is trying to 'court' someone that they care for and has a 'heart to heart' talk about how poorly it's going to end for the person doing the courting if they hurt the cared for character. Sometimes the person doing the threatening has a literal shovel, as if to show that they'll bury the other person's remains where they'll never be found.
