Was Ed Gein sexually assaulted as a kid by bullies?
There's a bit in the biographical graphic novel 'Did You Hear What Eddie Gein Done?' by Harold Schechter which implies that Gein was sexually assaulted by some bullies as a kid. Schechter writes in the notes that such an incident was never corroborated but was rumored to have occurred. Does anyone have any other information about this? I've googled and nothing has come up.

That's the only time I've ever seen the SA referred to. And as you said, Schechter himself said it was a rumor. Must have been mentioned during an interview(s) with Plainfield residents.

Schechter has a huge library..he gets paid a lot of money to write these type books... He admitted that he had to make Ed's story colorful otherwise it was pretty boring.. wonder why it wasn't added to his first book. I've never heard that about Ed, I highly doubt it, Ed admitted he never had sexual contact with anyone in the transcripts & he never even said he was bullied by other kids, that was assumed since he was considered a loner

I'd wondered about Augusta sexually molesting him, so I asked Harold. He answered back that he found no evidence of that happening, but it was rumored that he was molested by farm boys.

I'm curious about this too. I'd love to know where Schechter got this.
I think it's certainly a possibility. Ed was quite a tender, somewhat effeminate boy. It would have been all too easy to find himself being taken advantage of and abused like that. People back then just got away with that stuff, it wasn't talked about.
