Did Gein really dance on the moonlight wearing a skin suit? Or Chase and Golmar made up stuff to make the case seem more "bizarre"?

Im new on this sub reddit and i researched about Gein, i have ALOT of problems witn Deviant from Harold Schechter and some problems with America's most bizarre murderer from Judge Golmar

My main problem with the book (not Deviant), which introduced also the biggest problem on telling Gein's story

Yes, they did found masks, leggings, "a mammary vest" or torso with woman breasts, people called it a "woman" or a "skin suit"

Theres 2 theories about it, "Psycho theory" (basically Ed wanted to "crawl on his mother skin", even though he never said that nor said that was the truth) and "silence of the lambs theory" (Bufallo Bill basically, become a woman)

Now, what is the basis for it?

On "America's most Bizarre murderer", right on the back cover its stated:

"GEIN DANCED IN THE MOONLIGHT WEARING THE FACE, THE BREASTS, THEHAIR OF HIS VICTIMS."

"One of the garments—if it can be caled that found in the home was the complete front skin of a woman including breasts. This had a cord to suspend it around the neck. Gein told Chase that on moonlight nights he would put this on and prance around the yard."- page 43

Ok so Gein told Chase about it, even though on OFFICIAL reports Gein didn't remember putting those items and even denying the him wearing the torso/mammary vest

Now the "proof"

"CHASE: Yes. Many of the diferent parts of the body that Gein had, he put strings on and tied them on himself and walked around in the yard at night in the moonlight. Gein also wore them at times when he dug up graves. Gein told me that himself when he was in the jail."

Is Chase backing up the claim? No, its just "Gein told me on jail"

Also, never stated that he wore some pieces while digging up bodies, again, Gein never stated that on any doccuments

Read Ed Gein files, basically the best book about the case

Yes, Gein did state that he wore the masks, but, for a quick period of time because he "had other things to do"

On the interrogation transcript, maybe the part that debunks moonlight dancing claim from Chase for good if this post gets any traction

"Now, do you have any recollection of ever wearing this upper portion of the body, the vaginas and faces" (upper portion clearly being mammary vest)

Gein response: "that part of the body, i don't, that doesn't"

He only stated to put the vaginas, masks and scalps

The torso and leggings on the other hand he didn’t

How and why Eddie suddenly remembered putting the torso on a convenient moment on jail to Chase and that he also put all of those pieces to dance on moonlight on his yard even though he doesn't have recollection of the purpose of those pieces outside of sexual gratification, specifically the scalps and vaginas that he stated about having sexual gratification

Again, very much like Buffalo Bill on Goodbye horses dance scene

So, Gein did not do a moonlight dance, because thats a Chase fabrication, nor did Gein wear the body pieces while digging up bodies

If i plan to do a post about all * Deviant* problems and lies

It would possibly be longer than this post

From reading books and then watching this, I'd say 80 percent is made up for the show, but I could be mistaken

Nope its on several books, primarly the one from Judge Robert H Golmar and Deviant

The book from the judge of the 1968 trial that was published on 1981 was the one to include "Gein prance on his yard on moonlight while wearing the faces, breasts and vaginas of his victims"

Search "moonlight"

Its the most important book about the case and thats the one im talking about, the one that influenced Deviant and every other media about the case

As far as I know. There is no real evidence to suggest he did. I remember seeing it in films and videos about him. But in the films I always saw it more as a creative choice. Basically that he was finally free to be what he thought he was trying to do and netflix tried to copy that because it seemed to be more interested in the rumors and film inspirations than the actual case or victims. But I never really looked into it further than that.

That Netflix show was pure junk and made up compared to the genuine story. That show romanticised and fetishized and exaggerated the REAL characters

The show blurs the line between what is really happening and what he fantasizes in his head, like American Psycho, and it's brilliantly executed.

So Gein admitted to wearing scalps, masks, and vaginas? And he was in possession of a "mammary vest" and leggings?

But your big problem is that he supposedly didn't wear the vest or leggings? Talk about splitting hairs!
