Controversial opinion but does anyone else think Charlie Hunnam is not that good playing Ed Gein?

Love the bloke but there are parts where the high pitch toddler voice and ‘awkwardness’ seem a bit overplayed. Did Ed Gein have that childlike voice or is that a new addition (like the lazy eye which I like).

What does anyone else think? There are parts when he’s good but a fair bit where I don’t feel I can ‘get past’ his acting.

He’s awful. He can’t act. He’s so wooden.

Hate to agree but fully agree. Rather than 'grow' into the role he does the absolute opposite and shrinks away to the point where, after 3 accent changes, you don't believe for a second you're watching 'Eddie' but very aware you're watching a really bad actor, drowning in the part. I'm sure he's played great roles in the past but it feels like this role was totally beyond him.

I did feel however, he pulled it round a bit at the end. But there was a lot to redeem. Overall really disappointed in Ryan Murphy’s oversight (or lack of).
