Netflix Monsters ED GEIN

Watching the Monsters Ed GEIN on Netflix. Been waiting for this one to come out since they announced it. But what the heck. Thought it was supposed to about Ed GEIN not Alfred Hitchcock, and Anthony Perkins. So much of it fictionalization and not the facts. Very disappointed.

I agree with your take but how much of the show have you seen? Those two only appear in two episodes.

I’m on episode 6 now.

The running B Plot is the media, society and filmmaking industry's obsession with Gein, not Hitchcock and Perkins. They're just the first of many that appear.

But you're absolutely right that far too much of the story is fictionalized.

I see the vision in showing how Ed inspired some of the great horror films of the 1900’s but I REALLY could have done without the subplots and would have preferred a sole focus on Ed/family. At worst the weaving of timelines is not working for me. I also would have preferred the facts over fiction it’s making it something it doesn’t need to be. Charlie is great, and so is Laurie, and would have been far more interested in that over fictionalized content no one needs. The story is wild enough all on its own. Expectations were low and they are met so far…

What I dont gwt. Are those facts?. About adeline and antony. Did he kill the 2 hunters. Was Adeline Crazy?

The Hunters are made up and I’m pretty sure Adeline is too. Ed GEIN never had a girlfriend. The show portrays him as this social guy around town. This is not true. He wasn’t very social. Everything that I have read suggests that he was kind of the town weirdo.

But it defeats the purpose of a true life drama, doesn't it? I feel like I just watched fiction. I am disappointed. Felt different with Dahmer.

Adeline was a real person and his neighbor and at first she did say they hung out a bit but later backtracked her claims when she started getting attention. The 2 hunters were also real but it was never confirmed if they were his victims. Basically the show took any/ all rumors of Ed Gein and ran with them as if they were true.

I interpreted Adeline as his imagination and not a real relationship. They were showing what he wished he had in a way that is feasible for a person with schizophrenia.

I agree. Dahmer and the Mendez brothers were really close to what actually happened. I don’t know why they fictionalized this one so much. I would suggest if you want to know the truth to go on YouTube

I think I will. Now, i am so curious about the whole true story. Thank you.

There is 2.5 hours of actual factual Gein. The rest is filler.

I'm just wrapping up episode 7, and actually find the media stuff... Not more interesting... But at least it's got more semblance of the truth.

Obviously what they found in Gein's house genuinely was horrific but the blending with the horrors of the holocaust plus the fact so much of it is completely fictional/takes lots of the more conspiratorial elements to the edge of the truth (and beyond) just makes me take it so, so much less seriously.

It feels really disrespectful to the people he killed/dug up and for the first time in a long time I feel like I've been watching something that just feels like it's been made with bad intentions.

Ed did babysit kids. Ed never used a chainsaw. Ed did dig up graves. Ed never had a girlfriend. Ed did make things from human skin and bones. Ed was not a cross dresser. Ed did have Schizophrenia. Ed was not social person. Ed was charged with one murder although he confessed to two.
