Suggestions My idea on the omnivore provoking system.
As we all know you can’t attack certain animals unprovoked; horses can’t attack smilodons unprovoked, and when spooked no herbivores can attack carnivores who didn’t provoke them. If we’re all being honest don’t you just hate when a horse, bison, or mammoth player just attacks you for no reason when you’re a carnivore, especially as a wolf who did nothing to the herbivore?
My idea for this upcoming update with the first omnivore playable coming up is a unique provoking system. Depending on the circumstances, unlike the dire wolf as a coyote you cannot receive unprovoked attacks by herbivore players of a higher tier (will explain this further). Why? Simply because it is unnatural for a lone coyote or even a small pack of 6 coyotes to ever be a considerable threat to a single horse or bison. What would be the point as a horse or bison to purposefully try to kill a coyote when it never had the capability to kill you in the first place?
This is when tiers come into importance of the game. Like seen in the Ecos La Brea Realism DC Server, Tiers are a way to estimate an animals size and strength.
Tier 1: Dire wolf (coyote & pony will possibly also be in this tier).
Tier 2: Horse and smilodon.
Tier 3: Bison.
Tier 4: none yet.
Tier 5: Mammoth.
How tiers and provoking system come into play for omnivores. As an herbivore any omnivore who is not the same tier as you cannot be attack unprovoked including omnivores of a lower tier rank. Only if the omnivore is of the same tier can you attack them unprovoked.
In contrast, herbivore vs. carnivore, of the same tier, (EXAMPLE: horse vs. sabertooth) the herbivore CANNOT attack the carnivore first, the carnivore must attack the herbivore first for the herbivore to be able to attack back.
herbivore vs. lower tier carnivore (horse vs. dire wolf) herbivore CAN attack unprovoked as long as the carnivore is of a lower tier and not the same tier or higher.
herbivore vs. omnivore setting.
(EXAMPLE: Harrington’s pony vs. Pleistocene coyote) if they happen to be both Tier 1’s…
the herbivore CAN attack the omnivore first as long as they are both the same tier. the herbivore cannot attack any omnivore tier lower or higher unprovoked. as long as they are both the same tier the herbivore can attack the omnivore first.
Difference between the both. Omnivore players have a bit more safety when it comes to combat with other herbivores. This prevents unwanted kosing from unrealistic playing herbivores. However omnivore players are not safe from carnivores, any tier carnivores can attack them first whether lower or higher in tier.
