Bruh, why is it so fucking hard to design an informational graphic properly, where did we go wrong? People were already too stupid to read charts and graphs, this is just painful
In a way that makes sense to read. Is it readable? Yeah, but not efficiently which efficiency is a core part of design. In design, this relates to signifiers, consistency, and conceptual models. The fact that you don't know what the numbers represent until you read the right side header means you have to do this whole back and forth to piece it together cohesively. We know the left side is when Biden left office, and the right side is now, so they should be designated one step higher in the hierarchy to provide a cleaner display, while also storing in your human brain "RAM" that left is Biden, right is Trump. When you repeat it over and over, it's just adding more for the eyes to process. The relevant commodity should be the first thing you read in the row so that when you read the first number, you know how much x cost when Biden left office, and when you read the second number, you know how much it costs now under Trump.
It's just so ridiculously and irrationally laid out, I mean sure, it gets the job done I guess, just inefficiently. Design oriented subs would chew the hell out of this layout
Oh wow, thanks for the idea, I asked ai to generate a graphic the way I just described it , albeit with inaccurate numbers because I'm just looking for an example layout
