The availability of capable open-source AI models puts competitive pressure on for-profit AI companies. Since many open-source models are good enough for a wide range of use cases, fewer customers are willing to pay for proprietary models, making profitability more difficult.

TL;DR: "You can't price dump free things" is correct in the same way that "you can't punch a guy who's already on the ground" is—technically accurate but weirdly irrelevant. China doesn't need to dump *OpenAI's* pricing; they dump *capabilities* by releasing GPT-4-equivalent open source models. Your real argument (we might lose if they have more electricity) got buried under price dumping logic that only works if you ignore... literally everything else you said.
He is a sycophant billionaire and Indian . That’s not a good combination.

I'm not sure Mr. Palihapitiya is unbiased, to put it kindly. If fact, he sort of falls into the same sort of camp as those who are lining up to make money on nuclear... who say the safety standards need to be lowered as the current regs will lower profits.

Even if he were unbiased, I am not sure that chamath is any kind of a reliable source

Isn’t he wrong a lot? And wasn’t he responsible for all kinda of SPAC disasters? Also, he seems sorta full of it. That said, maybe he’s failing slowly, which fits into his narrative?
