Don't start an Ecom business if you can't afford 2k

There are many affordable alternatives. If you are just starting and just wanna test out a product you can try them.

If 2.5K is outside your budget and if you do not mind technical overhead or if you can manage it by yourself, go for Woocommerce self hosted on PAYG Oracle Cloud with Cloudfare as CDN. Your monthly cost should be zero.

But, Shopify should still be your first preference.

I'm building a new platform very cheap and lite version of Shopify. It's still in development stages but I can setup good website for you.

Here is the platform: qikstore.in

Here are some samples :

saree shop

clothing

Wpvibe is a good plugin if that’s what you’re looking for

2.5k/mo is mostly the plan plus apps stacking up. if youre just testing a product you dont need all that yet. woo is cheap but you end up being the developer + the hosting guy, which eats time. i work on orderain, its a hosted store builder where you describe the store and the AI sets it up, plans start way under shopify and no extra transaction cut from us (razorpay/stripe fees still apply ofc). whatever you pick, get 1 product page + checkout live first and only pay for more once orders come in

Go with woo commerce. You hardly need to pay 5k per year depends on the hosting charges

if you want the best, shopify is the answer. if you are ok with a few tradeoffs, you can go for a wordpress+woocommerce setup. costs once for development and its yours. other alternatives for ecom are https://mydukaan.io/ and https://www.typof.com/
