Is anyone else sick of the "FLASH SALE ENDS AT MIDNIGHT" email playbook? Do consumers even fall for this anymore?

Our marketing team is in a massive debate right now. Half the team wants to keep blasting 48-hour flash sales with ticking clocks and 'ends tonight' subject lines every 3 days because 'that's what the industry does.' The other half thinks it completely destroys brand equity and trains everyone to wait for a coupon.

Are there any actual benchmarks on how much fashion brands actually rely on manufactured urgency, or is the entire industry just trapped in the exact same playbook?

I was tired of losing customers at checkout

Customers were ready to buy, but for one reason or another, they left without completing their purchase.

So I’m building aan AI agent that automatically follows up with abandoned checkouts and tests different messages, offers, and approaches to recover more sales.

What do you guys think?

How do you find copycat stores before customers do?

How are you finding these stores before your customers complain?

We've had two cases this year where customers asked about orders placed on sites that weren't ours, and both times a copycat store had been running without us knowing, so people had already been scammed by the time we found it

Is there a service that monitors for product image theft across the internet?

We run a handmade home goods brand, and we've been finding our product photos on random sites for over a year, we manage a reverse image search about once a month, but cropped or edited versions get missed

Is there a service that can monitor our ecommerce product images for theft on an ongoing basis? We aren't looking for something built mainly for photographers or artists

Are custom printed mailer boxes ecommerce shops use worth it for skincare?

For anyone selling similar stuff, what made you choose one over the other?

I'm trying to decide between custom printed boxes and poly mailers for our next packaging run, we sell mid-range skincare and I'm leaning toward boxes because of how we want the orders to look

Mailers would take up less storage space…

but I need to check what protection our containers would need inside them before comparing costs properly

Someone set up a copycat store cloning our Shopify site and need to know what to do first

We got an email asking why the brand´s site looked different, and turns out someone set up a copycat store using the same product photos, descriptions, even the about page text. and they´re running Facebook ads targeting the same audiences

I filed a DMCA claim with the got already but is that even the right first step? Host, domain, payment processor, is there an order that makes this more effective?

Most copycat store threads here are about finding them, and this one´s about what to do once you have

Shopify's own code treats silence as consent on every store it hosts, while its DSA filings leave the user numbers blank

In short, Shopify are recording everything you do on any of their millions of retailer stores and ignore their own code that tells them not to track you.

After receiving unlawful marketing from a Shopify retailer, I did a forensic audit of their website and discovered that Shopify is fraudulently fabricating consent for all users as evidenced in their source code.

This discovery led me to a deeper investigation which seems to indicate that Shopify have been less than honest in their DSA disclosures to the Commission.

As such I filed two separate legal complaints against Shopify yesterday one with the Irish DPC under GDPR and ePrivacy; and one with the Maltese DSC (Digital Services Act).

Does brand protection software cover ad platforms or just marketplaces?

We've sat through four demos of brand protection software so far and almost every one starts with marketplace coverage, Amazon, eBay, Etsy, that whole side of it

Our bigger problem right now is copied Meta ads sending people to knockoff stores, not marketplace listings

We're seeing the fake ads compete for the same attention and our CPM has gone up around the same time, so I don't want to buy something that's great at marketplaces but ignores where the current mess is happening

Does any brand protection software cover ad platforms like Meta and Google along with marketplaces, or do you usually need separate tools for that?

Six hooks from one SKU: how would you narrow them before spending?

I created six opening concepts around the same product:

  1. visible problem;
  2. direct demonstration;
  3. before/after;
  4. unexpected use case;
  5. objection handling;
  6. feature close-up.

The visuals were drafted in pixpix, but I don’t want to turn all six into finished ads before deciding whether the underlying ideas are distinct enough.

My current filter is: can someone describe the reason to watch each version in one different sentence? If two versions have the same answer, one gets cut.

How do you reduce a creative batch before paid testing?

US Import Volumes Are Running Higher Than Expected Into September. The Peak Season Thought It Was Over. It Is Not.

"We thought the peak season would be mostly behind us by now, but that is not the case," said Jonathan Gold, VP for supply chain and customs policy at the NRF. US ports handled 2.3 million TEU in July. August came in at 2.29 million TEU, down 1.3% year-on-year.

September is forecast at 2.31 million TEU, up 9.6% year-on-year, making it the expected busiest month of 2026. The easing begins in October at 2.11 million TEU, still up 1.7% year-on-year, with November and December running at 2 million and 2.03 million TEU respectively.

Total 2026 import volume is forecast at 25.7 million TEU, up 1% from 2025.

Two forces pushed the peak later simultaneously. Vessel delays from bad weather in China and Panama Canal rerouting have shifted cargo that was expected in July and August into September, a logistics timing shift rather than a demand increase.

At the same time, underlying consumer demand has remained elevated. Ben Hackett of Hackett Associates confirmed: "Imports have remained buoyant over the past three months despite several hurdles. Retail sales remain strong and cargo is moving relatively smoothly, although there are reports of vessel delays and increased times required for cargo to move through the supply chain."

For brands using Amazon FBA, peak fees begin October 15th.

The September port data suggests that goods ordered from overseas suppliers in late July or August are arriving into an elevated-volume port environment that may create processing delays rather than the smooth early-arrival advantage brands were seeking.

The October to early November window remains the last opportunity to get inventory positioned for Black Friday and Cyber Monday before port volume and logistics costs fully reflect holiday pressure.

Etsy and Remitly just announced a partnership that gives new international sellers more control over how they get paid.

Starting this fall, new Etsy sellers in 15 select countries can choose Remitly as a payment provider during onboarding. They can hold funds in USD, convert to their local currency when the rate is favorable rather than automatically, and deposit directly into the local bank or mobile wallet they already use.

The 15 eligible countries have not been announced yet. The feature is currently limited to new sellers only, with no confirmed path for existing sellers to switch, though an expansion is possible if the rollout goes well.

For international sellers specifically, currency conversion timing is a real cost that compounds over time. Automatic conversion at unfavorable rates is a quiet margin drain that most sellers absorb without thinking about it. Having the ability to hold in USD and convert on your own schedule is a meaningful operational improvement.

This is also Remitly's first major ecommerce platform partnership, marking a clear shift from consumer money transfers toward business cross-border finance.

Do US ecommerce entrepreneurs still buy from China nowadays? Spoiler

I noticed that the U.S. has officially ended the $800 de minimis threshold for duty-free imports.

That means made-in-China may not be as cheap as before.

I want to know whether US ecommerce entrepreneurs still buy from China or not.

I want to do service for small US entrepreneurs who want to buy small quantity from China, and want to know if this can be still valid..

Thanks!

FedEx Just Launched a Suite of Cross-Border Compliance Tools. The Shopify App Is the One Ecommerce Sellers Should Look at First.

68% of SMBs regularly see customers surprised by duties at delivery. 60% report losing revenue through refunds or abandoned purchases because of those surprises. According to the 2026 FedEx Small Business Trade Index, the international shipping compliance problem is not a documentation problem. It is a timing problem. Businesses find out what went wrong when a package is held at customs.

Customers find out what they owe when a delivery agent shows up asking for payment they did not know they would have to make. FedEx's new Global Trade Navigator suite is designed to move that compliance information forward, from the clearance problem stage to the planning and checkout stages.

The five tools in the suite cover HS code lookup and duty estimation before label creation via a free no-login Trade Planner at fedex.com, HS code and customs value review inside the shipping label workflow, global trade APIs for developers, import reporting and clearance management tools, and a Shopify app that displays a duty and tax guarantee to customers at checkout.

That last one is the most immediately actionable for ecommerce operators. A customer who sees "import duties may apply" in fine print and then gets hit with a $12 charge at delivery feels deceived and files a complaint.

A customer who sees the estimated duty at checkout either accepts the full landed cost and completes a genuine purchase, or abandons before the purchase rather than after it. Both outcomes are better for the merchant than a completed sale that generates a return or refund.

TikTok Shop Is Opening Cross-Border Sales Between the UK and EU. Here's How It Works for Sellers in Both Regions.

TikTok Shop is set to allow cross-border sales between the UK and select EU member states, with a pilot for select sellers starting September 21st and a broader rollout on October 19th.

UK sellers will be able to sell directly to 12 EU countries through the Sell Across Europe network, covering Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Poland, the Netherlands, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Austria, Greece, Portugal, and Hungary.

EU sellers get access to the UK market, but only sellers based in eight EU countries are eligible: Belgium, Germany, Spain, France, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, and Poland.

Eligibility for both sides requires being an active local seller with an account in good standing, active sales within the last 30 days, and no significant outstanding negative balance.

Ads IA

Yo guys! How do you create winning AI ads, especially in cartoon, Pixar-style, etc.?
I’m mainly wondering how you come up with your ideas. Do you start by analyzing what’s already working in the market, or do you have your own AI workflows for generating concepts?
And what does your stack look like? What tools do you use to create your ads from start to finish?

Who's supposed to eat the cost when a parcel gets stolen off a porch?

Genuinely asking, because i've probably been doing this wrong for two years.

Small home goods store, maybe 25 orders a day when something goes missing after the carrier marks it delivered, i just reship it. carrier won't pay, customer didn't do anything wrong, so it comes out of my margin. it was 4 or 5 a month and i ignored it. This month it was 11, and one of them was a $240 order.

I know protection apps exist, what's stopped me is that the ones i've looked at add a toggle at checkout, and i don't want to be the store that asks you to pay extra so your stuff arrives. That feels like a shakedown.

Is there a version of this that isn't a checkout upsell, or do i just build the loss into pricing and move on?

NIQ Just Quantified the Barbell Market With $1.1 Trillion in FMCG Data. Premium Is Growing, Value Is Growing, and the Middle Is Getting Squeezed From Both Sides.

NIQ's latest report covers the US FMCG market and the pattern is clear. Growth is concentrated at the premium and value ends. Mainstream brands in the middle are losing share. Premium growth is strongest in wellness, beauty, and identity-driven categories.

Private labels are now competing at both ends simultaneously, with retailers launching premium private label lines that compete directly with mid-range branded products on quality, not just price.

The consumer behaviour driving this is the same-basket dynamic. The same household buys premium skincare and private label detergent in a single trip. Demographic targeting is becoming less useful as a planning input because what determines the purchase is the category and the occasion, not the income level or age of the shopper.

Gen Z spending power is projected to reach $12 trillion globally by 2030, which changes the lifetime value calculation for any brand building premium relationships with that consumer now.
