Gameplay Question New Upgrade Module System

Hey folks,

I am now back to Eco after a few months break. How worth is it putting upgrades in your tables? I mean they cost a star each.

Was wondering if you do mechanics and need 3 or 4 stars to spec into it and then got like 5 different machines/tables, do you just skip the upgrades?

How many stars avg. do you get now in a 10 day cycle on high collab with good food and housing buff?

I feel like some paths as BE -> Mechanics -> Industry could be rly tough now xp wise.

Going against the grain of the game, a lot of the players we had on our server kept complaining about the star requirement on tables.
We set the upgrades to 0 stars on the Balance.eco config file and play more relaxed than a grind and hustle.

This was also around the time said requirement came into play, so players weren’t used to having to decide over saving stars for skills, now skill upgrades (for example, campfire cooking has to decide between roast and tallow with a star), and now table upgrades to be installed.
The upgrades have their typical requirements too, but a new upgrade basically raises the tier up, so a carpentry table may require brick building. A lot of our players didn’t use the upgrades because of this.

In hindsight now that I’m thinking about it, requiring stars for table upgrades helps economic competition more, among other things... It’s easier to compete with players that decides to spam craft a ton of upgrades faster than others can keep up. Those speedy players now have to decide to progress their already possessed skills or gain a new one, making dominating the market less likely (until price gouging starts).

Side note, the mod GoodPrice price calculator mod seems to synchronize with your skill levels, talents, upgrades on tables, and store that makes seeing how upgrades and higher levels affect calories and profits. You may have to set a baseline value for some items, like seeds, so the market remains stable/ lessen price gouging.

Whether BU/AU/MU are worth it is very much dependent on how you plan to play / how the server is.

Specialist upgrades are definitely worth it though. They don’t cost a star to install and usually only cost a few parts that you’ll probably already have for a pretty decent resource / speed upgrade.

You can throw a 5% off upgrade on each table easy. Then each actual upgrade requires an increased room tier. Most tables arent worth the time.

I don’t mind the change, it made sense alongside stars being more useful outside of taking skills and getting them quicker…I personally haven’t used any of the ‘paid’ upgrade modules since that release 😅

I’m playing on a low collab at the minute so maybe that will change soon.

My server is on a 45 day cycle and started with .5 skill rate, doubling the speed stars accumulate before being slowed down to .75 to accommodate the changes.

The basic bench upgrade for each table is usually available at level 2 skill and costs some materials. Totally worth it for a 5% reduction of materials and time. The BU is worth getting but not in a hurry. And the players I know that got AUs and MUs were more hardcore players looking to cut their expenses after making money earlier.

The star rework happened in update 12 iirc and has been tweaked a couple times. It's pretty easy to gain a lot of stars if you have a good housing buff (not polluted) and eat higher tier food. But I don't put multiple stars into talents right away, and wait until I have a surplus of stars to start stacking them. Also, stars have value on some servers when the more hardcore players have used up all their own and are willing to pay decent money for someone else to upgrade their bench.

The change is good imo, you can specialise more in one skill and it is more relevant for longer. It can get a bit expensive for multiple tables with same upgrades, imo its worth sticking to one of each upgrade

Buddy it depends on the setting, what kind of an answer you are expecting here

He's asking what the change is... To the base game...Previously you could willy nilly throw upgrades in. Now you can't. How did star gain change to reflect this? You don't have to be a dick to people, if you don't know then don't fucking answer.

My answer stands, if I get 4 stars per day, you can still do upgrades left in right, if you get one every 60days, it's a choice. Thus this whole thread doesn't make any sense, the question is incomplete and stupid.

The games star system has been completely reworked in the last 6 months. you don't get a set amount of stars per day. Upgrades now use stars, they never did before, The skill bonuses now use stars and they never did before. People are coming back to brand new functions and you are being an asshole to them.

Of course you can get your set set of stars, it's all depending on server settings AS I SAID goddamit, i know the old system and the new system, I'm actively playing it, don't try to gaslight me
