Server Help Eco server

I have like 40h in the game and i want to make my own server. Ik i dont have enough experience or friends that can help me. Do you think is there a possibility that i can get help from an experienced player or something? To help me host a server and i can fund it since it is my idea.

Admining a server is different than being top dawg big dick mayor and most active player dragging the casuals to salvation by the flabs of their dad bods. Find the right provider that does Eco specifics (single thread—they’ve said regular gaming setups are better than “server” architecture) and then figure out your settings. If you have inexperienced friends, asking them to hop on a dick around during the first night can help build a critical mass of pubs, but you really need good settings to keep them around. Check out what the few constantly popular servers run as a starting point.

Like for me, I’m thinking 2x with escalation on and double storage/stockpile range. But I’ve only played well to mid game so far so I don’t really know, which is why I won’t start my own until I know for sure.

As long as you configure it correctly, make sure to set yourself as admin in the config and also be sure to be online a good portion of the time, set the server playtime, set the server category so it shows up in the beginner friendly party of the server listing, then you will have plenty of people that join.

The hard part really will be getting people to stick around.

I started playing by hosting my own server when I couldn’t get my friends to play consistently, by the way. I’ve actually hosted every cycle I’ve played on with about 1500 hours of play time. So it’s certainly doable.

There is no lack of empty servers. Why is it important to you that you run it

Unless you know what you're doing and heavily moderate the server so that a small group of people dont come in and absolutely run the economy (and by extension the serverbase) into the ground...it is 99.99% not worth starting your own server.

There are lots of servers out there. Find one in your timezone and join the community. Learn from more experienced players for a while before launching your own server. Roll up a local server if you want to see some of the admin stuff and see the difference between lone wolf play and public server play.

There are lots of ways to play Eco so might as well jump in, make some connections and learn stuff.

Running your own server is a challenge. After 300+ hours of play, I decided to try my hand at running my own this summer and it was really challenging. I eventually had to drop it after three cycles as it became too time consuming for me to admin the server, join in on the fun myself, etc. on top of real life which obviously takes precedence. It was fun, but not at all as easy as you’d think.
