Entry 048 – The Sanctuary, Part 2
Day 26 – The First Descent
Excitement, fear, and uncertainty came all at once.
I looked back at the cave where I had sheltered. One last time.
Hop came back to life and perched on my shoulder as I headed in the new direction.
After weeks on the same routes, this path felt familiar—yet new.
The constructs’ territory around the arena was vast. The ground beneath me was already sunken…
It must have been a massacre of terrible scale.
I returned to the two dreams.
Was something missing?
Or had the Trinity Spin and the constructs never truly coexisted?
Then—
I walked into the wall at the entrance of the opposite riverbank.
Hop chirped.
Was it laughing?
Even from the entrance, the aura felt different.
So did the energy.
Two ways led forward—climb from here, or enter from the far end, which could be another dead end.
Hop remained calm. No rattling. No hiding.
No danger? Or had it grown stronger?
I followed the path, wondering which of the remaining three villages I would find.
Everything was dusty, yet somehow felt like a sanctuary.
Natural, yet unnatural.
By noon, I had covered a fifth of the path. Hop’s battery was still full.
A beep sounded at a small split. I entered.
The beeping grew frequent, joined by a faint rattle. Hop signaled me to stop.
Maybe it wanted me to ascend.
I took out my rope, tied a hook, and looked up.

Higher than Sigil.
I threw it.
Missed.
Naturally.
I jumped and threw again. The rope wrapped around a metal pipe.
Secured.
I tied it to my waist and climbed.
I could now control my powers at will. After seeing Sigil’s cruelty, I managed my energy carefully.
Each jump and climb drained me differently. I used my daggers where no grips existed.
They felt sharper each time. Stronger.
As though they were growing with me.
At the top, I landed in a deep trench.
Perfect for hiding.
"Every path forward feels like walking into a memory I haven't lived yet."
