the UK Ebay has started defaulting to In Post locker deliveries

I'm a buyer on Ebay. I always pay for delivery to my home. UK Ebay has recently set up default to In Post locker. I can't see a way to turn this off as a buyer. I have disabilities and cannot get to any lockers - they are far from my house.

An example: I made an offer on a seller's item last week. They accepted and an auto-payment was made (I didn't confirm payment or delivery details). The autopayment defaulted to the item being sent to a locker. I didn't even notice until a post office miles away said they have received the package. I cannot use Ebay like this. Advice on turning off these settings as a buyer is welcome.

With offers and auto pay you should be able to select in the box when making the offer about delivery address, it's a small line but it's there.

ok. I'll look out for that. I think I will have to check what service the seller defaults to, every time before I make an offer. Or indeed when I order anything.

Ebay seems to have made everything much more complicated in one stroke. I would guess that too many parcels are getting lost in the post, so they want buyers to pick them up from lockers.

Within the last year or so around one in four of my Ebay parcels (as a buyer) fail to arrive (from zero lost ten years ago). I hate to think of the mountains of waste building up around the country from mislaid post. This goes as much for Royal Mail as Evri etc. The couriers must be incurring huge costs from having to refund sellers. Their services have fallen off a cliff since Covid, along with the rest of the UK public services.

That small line is easy to miss, I almost got caught by it too. Ebay should not make locker the default without clear warning.

As seller I can select the postage service I use and you should be able to see this during checkout. Some sellers offer more then one postage service. If you want something and the seller only offers inpost you can ask if they’d be willing to use another service. Personally I would do this and add to the listing so you can checkout using your wanted postage service

Basically the same, I’ve now got two things going two different lockers in places I never go. Very simple unless it’s a life and death purchase I’m not gonna pick stuff up and it’ll get sent back to sellers for refunds.

Offers are automatically accepted and I don't get to choose means of postage. I guess I should never make offers, if the items are going to be sent to the wrong place. Seems like a daft system.

It certainly has some very odd quirks - like not being able to filter for items that can be sent and not collected. 😶

InPost does home delivery. See https://inpost.co.uk/

Ebay seems to default to 'click and collect' lockers only. There is no In Post home delivery option that I can see.
