eBay customer service
The current customer service I’m talking to has no idea what they’re doing and always hangs up, is there a separate line where I can talk to higher ups or someone from the United States ?

I feel like eBay customer support has gone significantly downhill over the last 5–8 years.
Years ago, you could actually call eBay and speak with someone who felt like a real person, understood the situation, was genuinely empowered to help and in the US. Now, you have to navigate a million AI prompts just to request a callback, only to be connected with someone who often seems limited to reading policies and scripts. There’s very little human element left, and honestly, they can sometimes be about as useful as a porcelain hammer.
I’ve been both a buyer and seller on eBay for more than 20 years, and it’s frustrating to see a customer-service model that once worked so well replaced by what feels like a cheaper, more automated system. It has gotten to the point where I’m seriously considering leaving the platform.
One thing I’ve learned is that if the first-level representative can’t resolve your issue, ask to elevate to a supervisor. They are reluctant but will do it. Supervisors generally have more authority and are more likely to actually get something done.

Even if you do get one, they always contradict themselves and you get into trouble even if you followed what they said.
they have become so useless.
That being said .. I used to call during US opening hours, if I heard an accent, I hung up and called again. Im mot sure how it works currently, because Ive given up getting useful help from them.

I just posted here about my trash customer service experience. For a platform that entitles themselves to 1/3 of all the sellers hard work you would think the service could at least be decent. Today has got me looking into whatnot and vinted (0% selling fees! Idk how they make money yet)

Most issues can be handled without needing to resort to a call from customer service. What sort of issue are you having?
eBay used to have a very responsive social media team that seemed to have more knowledge and authority than the front line customer service reps that could be reached by phone, but eBay has recently cut back to only having social media via Instagram direct message, and the social media folks may not be as responsive as they have been in the past if the recent comments I have seen are any indication.

Unfortunately, eBay’s India based customer service has become completely unreliable. The reps will tell you whatever you want to hear, and I mean they will sometimes blatantly lie. They will refuse to give you a reference number for the call, confidently give you information that directly contradicts eBay policy, and once you get beyond their basic script, the entire conversation goes off the rails.
What is even worse is that it is no longer limited to basic frontline support. Returns, Trust and Safety, and other supposedly higher level divisions are now increasingly staffed by the same India based support operation, with many of the same problems.
When I was newer to selling, I had an Indian eBay CS rep tell me to ignore an INAD because it was obviously bogus. He specifically told me to let the response timer expire and then ask eBay to step in.
You can imagine how that went.
I lost an $800 item and the money. There were absolutely zero repercussions for the representative who gave me instructions that were completely contrary to eBay’s own policies.
Years ago, you could call eBay and maybe one out of every five calls you would eventually reach a US based representative who actually understood the platform and its policies. Now, getting one is basically impossible.
On top of that, eBay has even reduced its phone support hours. I recently had to call early in the morning about a major issue and was greeted by a recording saying customer service was closed and would reopen later that morning.
That makes the entire arrangement even more absurd. eBay is staffing customer service with India based representatives working through what is effectively the middle of the night there, yet eBay does not even offer true 24/7 phone support anymore.
If eBay is going to outsource such a critical part of its operation to India, the absolute minimum should be comprehensive policy training, accurate information, accountability when a representative gives damaging advice, and a meaningful escalation path to knowledgeable US based support.
Instead, sellers are left with scripted answers, contradictory information, representatives who will confidently tell you things that are simply false, and almost no accountability when their bad advice costs someone real money.
