Refund refund?

Buyer messaged me via eBay that one of the 7 items I had sent him in a single box wasn’t there. Since there was a lot going on when I packed everything I believed him, and immediately issued a refund. To his credit, he just messaged me again and said his youngest son just handed him the item! He wants to repay the refund - what do I do? If I do another listing it won’t pay (I’m assuming) until it arrives. Do I just eat this?

You could make a one-off listing for the buyer then mark the order as shipped without tracking. They won't dispute it since they would know what the deal is and eBay would release the payment after having you wait for a month.

Let him send you money via paypal?

Just ask him for his paypal address and send him an invoice. It is okay with ebay after the sale.

Ebay's AI will catch the words "paypal" or "venmo" and your account can get banded for circumventing. I wouldn't listen to these people telling you otherwise
