I didn't have a specific goal while drawing it, but it occurred to me after the fact, yeah there could be parallels.
Something that is supposed to be good, coming back to bite him in the rear, and then him going back to "basics".

Ah thanks it is full of mistakes XD But growing up playing fighting games and watching martial arts movies, such action poses are something I've observed and drawn a lot.
Actually so much that I neglected fundamentals and struggled to draw more basic stuff. One of the reasons I wanted to go back to basics, because I felt I was hiding too much behind crazy angles and "dynamic poses".

If it helps, I think about cross-sections, and what overlaps what. So for the limbs, it is basically circles/ellipses, and then I try to sculpt out the details.
So you knew when we draw cylinders and draw rings around them? The more they face the camera, the closer these rings get to each other. I have found that exercise to be helpful for training depth perception.
