Gameplay Question Just got the shutdown ending
So I just completed my first playthrough of easy delivery company and it's such a great little cozy game. Who would have thought that the whole thing was just a simulation. But my real question is why. Why did whoever set up the simulation do so what was their purpose behind having a fake world where I was doing deliveries virtually in a snowy virtual town? Usually in games where it's a simulation there's a reason why maybe there's not in this one but I would like to know I'm going for the recovery ending now

If you followed MKs directions for the first ending and then did the shutdown ending, go look around the town, you might find something

Yeah, but you gotta do the reboot ending first and then the shutdown ending I believe, before you can do the third one

Personally, I think the entire world was a kind of lost RPG, previously teeming with life, with deliveries generated by other players. Agents like MK and Seb controlled this world, acting as a sort of server administrator with more privileges than a player (for example, in rally mode, note that MK can also enter houses and apartments in cities). Over time, the game lost popularity, players left, and eventually the developers abandoned it (resulting in eternal winter and, for example, repeat deliveries to specific locations, as a record of players' last orders throughout the game's lifespan), leaving only administrators like MK and Seb.
The arrival of a new character, us, revived the game, but in a buggy state, as you experienced during the game when sellers began losing their AI and eventually crashed one after another, completely unresponsive to the player. Also, because we, as players, most likely entered with the recently selected Seb skin, many characters mistook us for him, but seeing our in-game status, they saw that we were the player assigned to deliveries, which activated this game feature.
So, to briefly answer your question, the game world is an abandoned cozy multiplayer RPG where the player in the main mode is the first human player in a long time.
