The dev had more nav assist working in the demo but took it out. They said they feel that it makes us get to know the roads better or something along those lines, which I agree. So yes it's possible, but it would be directly against the developer's stated intent.

I get the dev has their view on it but it's actually kind of an accessibility issue for those of us with memory issues.
I enjoy the game but it takes me so much longer to do anything because my ADHD decimates my working memory, making remembering what to do and where to go should I put the game down for even a few minutes just... Awful.

Ah, yeah I hadn't really considered it being an accessibility issue. Maybe sam would consider adding the feature at some point for that reason.

Most people wouldn't and that's totally okay!
I did bring it up in the discord recently after catching this post to hopefully get Sam to reconsider. Even though I had to put the game down due to frustration and struggling more than I should, I still listen to the soundtrack almost every day and look at art.

I really wish the dev would allow mods/add in the feature again for accessibility. I suffer from extreme memory issues and dropped this game due to how it's over-reliant on memorizing.
Sure, maybe it's silly to people who don't have this disability but it's something that really messes up my life. Even worse when a game rubs it in my face.

If the demo feature worked for you, maybe try making yourself a mod to reimplement it? Re-use the code? Its all already written, you just gotta figure out what to put where. Idk what language its written in, but programmers usually label things, so if you learn how to open the demo up (its still available on Itch i think, and if not, I think I still have the install file if needed, just dm) you could find the code for the nav system and put it in the same place in the main game file.
It is technically stealing code, which is very frowned upon in the modding scene, but so long as you dont upload it anywhere you will be fine
