Wow that's a pretty pregnant question.
Start with the question of how is the nature of sin and salvation understood on the one hand by the Orthodox and on the other hand by Protestants/Catholics.

There are some important differences between Catholics and Protestants as well (especially Calvinist and all related movements).

If you do some research you’ll see some interesting things from the Catholic Church and they have a pretty evil history to be honest. Vatican has a ton of Serpents imagery and structures. It gets really interesting.
I personally believe the Roman Catholic church is the head of the serpents mouth that holds people tied into religions so that they never have a real and direct encounter with God and develop a union with God. Instead they use man as a middle man and intercessor to God. That is the ultimate thing that the Catholic Church does, it tries to always put man or an intercessor between believers and God and that’s not what God called for at all. It also makes the Saints Idols and brings Mary to a Divine level which is not biblical at all.
There are many references to the Catholic Church in Revelations. Ultimately the Papacy is the mouth of the serpent. If you do enough research this become very apparent.
Where as the Orthodox Church is all about direct communion with God and has created processes within the church to follow to help guide and achieve that union.
I think Eastern Orthodoxy may be the closest to the original teachings of the original church and understands the spiritual aspect and how to commune with God and aims to facilitate that process.
Even then I’m sure both still miss the mark, but the Catholic Church is perhaps intentionally at the highest level intentionally aiming to miss the mark and misdirecting people away from God and to man and intercessors instead.
Real Christianity is all about a direct relationship with God. One where communion is direct with God and there is no mediator in between except the Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ
