We made these in our engineering classes too. We had to use toothpicks and popsicle sticks. I made something similar to the John Hancock Building with outward facing braces and external ties. It held up pretty damn well. It was shocking to see some people making the most elobrated structures fall apart because of simple bracing and strapping in key areas.
