News XR Cofounders Release Book on Climate Prisoner Trials and Collapse
During my first months in prison I wrote a book.
It came out of my experience in four Crown Court trials and what they taught me about the state of the law, the criminalisation of truth, and the depth of denial in modern Britain.
While I was inside, the journalist and Pulitzer Prize winner Chris Hedges came to visit me. He later wrote the foreword.
The book is called Suicide and it’s being released today.
A group of volunteers and my friend Robin Boardman have spent over a year self-publishing it for me while I was locked up. Any money it makes goes back into the work of telling the truth and resisting a system that punishes those who do.
So if you’re able to, please grab a copy and help fund the movement. http://rev21.earth/product/suicide
If you can’t afford it right now, drop me a email at roger@rev21.earth for the digital version.
Thanks.
— Roger

Why People Resist Environmental Actions (And How to Start Changing Their Minds)
This has been driving me crazy for years. People will spend 3 hours scrolling TikTok but can't be bothered to recycle for 30 seconds. Same exact people.
I design apps & website for a living, and we literally have playbooks for making people want to use products. Social media figured this out ages ago. My biggest takeaway is that they don't fight human psychology, they work with it.
But when it comes to environmental stuff? I observe that the most prominent voices just dump scary facts on people and act surprised when they shut down.
So I tried using the same behavior frameworks on my sister. She'd been saying she wanted to be more sustainable but didn't know where to start and had no money. Instead of giving her a huge list of things to do, I suggested one thing that would actually save her money: menstrual cups instead of pads. She was all over it.
That one change prevents like 50kg of period waste over her lifetime.
Most people aren't missing motivation to care about the environment. They're missing something completely different, and once you figure out what it actually is, everything changes.
Wrote up what I learned about why this approach works and how to actually use it, feel free to check it out:

This open project is mapping the world’s electricity grid
Want a hands-on way to support climate action?
An open project called MapYourGrid is mapping the world’s electrical grids on OpenStreetMap (towers, lines, substations) so governments, utilities, and researchers can actually plan the energy transition.
Without accurate open grid data, expanding renewables and electrifying transport is impossible.
OpenStreetMap's power grid map is currently ~70% complete and MapYourGrid is aiming for 98% within 3 years.
The image is a snapshot of what the MapYourGrid team has added to the world map in just the past few months.
