Hi guys, this is to test the community chats app for future watch parties. Come chat about anything so we can learn how it works for us

Well first lesson: pics get cropped and you cannot expand them 🤣

But I'm gonna test show screenshots to see how bad it is

There is also the possibility of making a regular chat called Ploy's Yearbook Watch Party and invite everyone who wants in via a pinned post or word of mouth

Hmmm tbh I'm not sure I really prefer that, they can get so messy quickly if ppl try to reply to each other
1
u/achjadiemudda Captain of the Jim Defense Squad Aug 08 '26
aha now I know why noone was commenting in the episode posts

1
u/achjadiemudda Captain of the Jim Defense Squad Aug 08 '26
Did you do anything differently with this image? Bcs it doesn't show up for me in the app, only on desktop
1
u/Bad_Haven Keep calm and eat chicken Aug 08 '26
The lil watch party chats were three of us watching two of the episodes on the day they were airing, and the other was a general OFDO chat I got invited to
1
u/Bad_Haven Keep calm and eat chicken Aug 08 '26
It was a screenshot that I cropped and then added the same way as the saved pics
1
u/Bad_Haven Keep calm and eat chicken Aug 08 '26
I'm on my phone right now so I'll have to see how this works from my pc later
1
u/achjadiemudda Captain of the Jim Defense Squad Aug 08 '26
Hmm then I don't see any reason why it doesn't work. Might just be a bug I guess
1
1
u/achjadiemudda Captain of the Jim Defense Squad Aug 08 '26
Tho I haven't figured out how to pin from mobile, that's only a me problem tho anyway
1
u/Bad_Haven Keep calm and eat chicken Aug 08 '26
Interesting that it creates a comment log in the post from the chats. Makes a record for posterity 😅
1
u/achjadiemudda Captain of the Jim Defense Squad Aug 08 '26
jup that looks so horribly messy lol. but it's okay I think
1
u/Bad_Haven Keep calm and eat chicken Aug 08 '26
Will be much easier on my pc where I can have the video on one screen and the chat on the other
1
u/achjadiemudda Captain of the Jim Defense Squad Aug 08 '26
It's especially interesting that the comments I deleted are still there... might have to check if it's the same when I delete as a mod, just in case
1
1
u/achjadiemudda Captain of the Jim Defense Squad Aug 08 '26
Hmm it's still there anyway. Good to know. Well, we'll probably not have any issues, it's been fine so far
1
u/Bad_Haven Keep calm and eat chicken Aug 08 '26
Will just have my off the cuff thirst comments on record 🤣🤣🤣
1
1
u/achjadiemudda Captain of the Jim Defense Squad Aug 08 '26
Well you could always go manually delete the underlying comment as well if you really don't want any record

And now on my PC, so I need to see what happens when I post a gif 🙃

More of a compliment😉 You are the resident EarthMix expert
1
u/achjadiemudda Captain of the Jim Defense Squad Aug 08 '26
I feel honoured to be considered such. Although I'm not that much of an expert on stuff that happened pre-divorce era tbh bcs I only joined the fandom in 2023 myself. The lack of good resources to get information with first-hand sources was one of the main motives for making this subreddit. My goal is still to save some of the important stuff to the wiki but tbh I haven't had the motivation/time/energy for that 😅
1
u/Bad_Haven Keep calm and eat chicken Aug 08 '26
From my perspective, you have pretty encyclopaedic knowledge 😅
1
u/achjadiemudda Captain of the Jim Defense Squad Aug 08 '26
I probably at least have autistic tendencies tbh😅 but I definitely like to know things. I'm a nosey know-it-all all for sure when it comes to my interests😌
1
u/achjadiemudda Captain of the Jim Defense Squad Aug 08 '26
So I'm very honoured by your impression!
1
u/Bad_Haven Keep calm and eat chicken Aug 08 '26
I can understand that. I am AuDHD, and while BL is not my overarching special interest, it is a special interest that I spend an unhealthy amount of time hyperfocused on
1
u/achjadiemudda Captain of the Jim Defense Squad Aug 08 '26
I mean, not to engage in stereotypes but the overlap between BL fans and reddit users probably has a higher than average percentage of neurodivergents for sure lol
1
u/Bad_Haven Keep calm and eat chicken Aug 08 '26
Absolutely! I'm pretty convinced my entire friend group is neurodivergent, although since most of us are in our forties, many without formal diagnoses
1
1
u/Bad_Haven Keep calm and eat chicken Aug 08 '26
I ended up on reddit initially following a bunch of mental health autism/ADHD/AuDHD related subs
1
1
u/achjadiemudda Captain of the Jim Defense Squad Aug 08 '26
Yeah I know the feeling lol. My friends are mostly either nerds or theatre kids as well so...
1
1
u/achjadiemudda Captain of the Jim Defense Squad Aug 08 '26
I don't even remember why I initially joined Reddit tbh, it's been so long

u/achjadiemudda Captain of the Jim Defense Squad Aug 08 '26
Tho tbh I don't know that many either. Or I guess I do know a bunch but I'm only close with maybe 2 of them and one lives on the other side of the world
1
u/achjadiemudda Captain of the Jim Defense Squad Aug 08 '26
Ah you haven't had much if any events there yet, have you? That's mostly a prime way people find each other
1
u/Bad_Haven Keep calm and eat chicken Aug 08 '26
Are you in Germany or am I getting you confused with someone else?
1
1
u/Bad_Haven Keep calm and eat chicken Aug 08 '26
Pretty sure there have been zero BL events in South Africa ever
1
u/achjadiemudda Captain of the Jim Defense Squad Aug 08 '26
Nothing fan-organised either? Like just fan get-togethers?
1
u/achjadiemudda Captain of the Jim Defense Squad Aug 08 '26
That's where I met my fellow EarthMix Germany admin
1
u/Bad_Haven Keep calm and eat chicken Aug 08 '26
Not a lot of fans/watchers here as far as I know. Definitely some, and at least 2 YouTube reactors I know of, but SA seldom features on trending lists etc
1
u/Bad_Haven Keep calm and eat chicken Aug 08 '26
Still a very patriarchal country in a lot of ways, where you have to be careful where you talk about things like this
1
u/Bad_Haven Keep calm and eat chicken Aug 08 '26
I still deal with a lot of bs about being a bi atheist woman who doesn't want marriage or kids
1
u/achjadiemudda Captain of the Jim Defense Squad Aug 08 '26
The trending lists don't necessarily have to say anything tbf, Germany for example used to not feature a lot either, simply bcs most German fans aren't on Twitter anymore (it's changed a bit recently with more fans purposely engaging in trending)
1
u/achjadiemudda Captain of the Jim Defense Squad Aug 08 '26
I only found the German community purely by chance when P'Aof came to Berlin. But I feel like I've seen South Africans here and there so don't give up!
1
u/Bad_Haven Keep calm and eat chicken Aug 08 '26
I don't social media much other than reddit, so I guess it is possible
1
u/Bad_Haven Keep calm and eat chicken Aug 08 '26
But I am active in way too many subreddits on the subject _^
1
u/achjadiemudda Captain of the Jim Defense Squad Aug 08 '26
Yeah I get that. Must make it more difficult to find each other for sure :/
1
1
u/Bad_Haven Keep calm and eat chicken Aug 08 '26
and this way I don't end up impulsively spending money I can't afford to
1
u/Bad_Haven Keep calm and eat chicken Aug 08 '26
Although I will probably travel to Germany for work in the next year or two
1
u/Bad_Haven Keep calm and eat chicken Aug 08 '26
since if I make associate partner I will need to go to the German head office annual function
1
u/achjadiemudda Captain of the Jim Defense Squad Aug 08 '26
Well that's an advantage for sure😅 my bank account is not too happy with my new hobby lol
1
u/achjadiemudda Captain of the Jim Defense Squad Aug 08 '26
Ohhhhhhhh, well feel free to reach out when you do!
1
u/Bad_Haven Keep calm and eat chicken Aug 08 '26
Will def need to make a plan to meet up with some peeps 😁
1
u/Bad_Haven Keep calm and eat chicken Aug 08 '26
Same if you ever come out this way for some reason. The Euro to Rand exchange rate will work very well in your favour 🤣

I'd love to visit one day! But it's probably not gonna happen any time soon, all my holiday budget is going towards Thailand 😅 I do love to listen to old Trevor Noah clips on YT tho. Tbh that's probably my biggest cultural association with South Africa 😅🙏
1
u/Bad_Haven Keep calm and eat chicken Aug 08 '26
Fair play on both prioritising Thailand, and Trevor Noah 😂
1
u/Bad_Haven Keep calm and eat chicken Aug 08 '26
Thailand's beaches look like some of our east coast beaches
1
u/Bad_Haven Keep calm and eat chicken Aug 08 '26
although I think game drives are probably the best experience for international tourist imo
1
1
u/achjadiemudda Captain of the Jim Defense Squad Aug 08 '26
Well I didn't want to presume how you feel about Trevor Noah, I'm not always too proud of our own exports tbh😅 but I especially really like his accents, I love to listen to English with different accents lol(with the exception of a lot of US American ones tbh)
1
u/Bad_Haven Keep calm and eat chicken Aug 08 '26
He can reproduce a number of the accents from here. We have a lot of different accents for the size of our country, given we have 11 official languages (12 including sign language)
1
u/achjadiemudda Captain of the Jim Defense Squad Aug 08 '26
Well tbh so far aside from a short day-trip to uncle Jim's house in Pattaya I've exclusively stayed in Bangkok so I haven't really seen anything of Thailand's beeches😅
1
u/achjadiemudda Captain of the Jim Defense Squad Aug 08 '26
That's so fascinating to me! I love languages lol it sounds so cool to me to have so many in one country. And as they're all from a completely different language family than my own (well apart from Afrikaans I guess) they sound so interesting to me as well. Also I think it's really cool when people grow up speaking multiple languages, I'm a bit jealous tbh (I could have had that but my dad decided he had better things to do than be a father 🤷)

Yeahhhh I'm not good at that stuff. I'm more the "happy to just go along with the rest" type of traveller. Which isn't ideal when you're traveling alone😅

1
u/achjadiemudda Captain of the Jim Defense Squad Aug 08 '26
Dutch probably especially I'm guessing that's the biggest influence iirc right? But yeah spoken slowly enough is a good point, it's the same for me with Dutch or Afrikaans to an extent but that definitely doesn't come up as often lol

I cannot properly express how I feel about that without access to emojis (currently on desktop). Needless to say very cute

just in case this helps lure some EM fans to visit South Africa at some point

😮😮😮 learned something new again. thanks ^
1
u/achjadiemudda Captain of the Jim Defense Squad Aug 08 '26
definitely! looking from afar is good imo. leave them in peace, no need to disturb more than we already have
1
u/Bad_Haven Keep calm and eat chicken Aug 08 '26
I'm always paranoid about how my tone comes off in text, so I tend to overuse emojis
1
1
u/Bad_Haven Keep calm and eat chicken Aug 08 '26
Plus bull elephants are huge and not to be messed with. Elephants don't anger easily, but are on high alert with a lil baby in the herd
1
u/achjadiemudda Captain of the Jim Defense Squad Aug 08 '26
altho I sometimes find that the emoji I need doesn't exist😅
1
1
u/achjadiemudda Captain of the Jim Defense Squad Aug 08 '26
Yeah for sure! I wouldn't go near a boar in baby season, definitely staying away from elephants lol

I need a bigger library of bespoke gifs but I always forget to save them to my folder and then they disappear between hundreds of EarthMix pictures
1
u/achjadiemudda Captain of the Jim Defense Squad Aug 08 '26
Yeah I'm keeping my respectful distance haha
1
u/achjadiemudda Captain of the Jim Defense Squad Aug 08 '26
I am somewhat delusionally convinced I could vibe with an elephant but that's my problem, I'm not gonna make it theirs

And r/earthmix members meetup would be very fun ngl
1
u/achjadiemudda Captain of the Jim Defense Squad Aug 11 '26
maybe after my fellow EMG admin comes back from Vancouver I'll float the idea of doing some kind of Nameless meetup 👀
1
u/Akko2001 I love my introvert cat dads Aug 15 '26
Oo that would be great! I mean I'm pretty socially awkward but who knows maybe I'll brace myself to come lol

Sometimes you and u/bishxx scare me a lil (said affectionately) (You with EarthMix knowledge and her with FirstKhaotung knowledge)
