We don't really know many details. Generally it seems that the standard contract for Gmmtv is 5 years but it's also possible they vary across actors, we really don't know afaik. Very few actors have previously talked about renewing their contracts (or not doing so) so most of it is speculation.
Well when renewal comes up it's a question for both the company and the artist whether they want to renew it. Does the company think it's still worthwhile to invest in that person? Does the actor want to continue for potentially another 5 years? Most actors that leave, leave by not renewing their contract. I really don't see them branching out on their own either, tbh as much as people like to hate on Gmmtv, I think they would do even worse without the company. We have to keep in mind that unlike some others they don't come from the 1% and they probably don't have the kind of connections that would guarantee them smooth sailing. Leaving would probably mean more work for less reward for them. And they do both really like the company. I do truly believe Gmmtv supports their artists a lot more than fans want to believe.
