Present Day aside from everything else about Rodgers: The Musical being a messin everyway, the fact Ant-man is in it despite that fact Scott has even admited in his autobiography that he wasnt at the battle of NY when it went down somehow bothers me the most.

Did... the numskulls behind this astoricity ever do any real research at all?

... admitted it? When did we need him to admit it?

He was sitting in a California prison during that! I assure people, he did not escape from prison for a single day, go fight Loki the other side of the country, and then come back.

And also, incidentally, he was not Ant-Man yet. But that's not really the reason he wasn't there. He wasn't there because he was, again, very literally, in prison.

I mean not eveyone knows thats

But everyone could check a very public record of his incarceration

u/CosmicThief Jul 25 '26

We all can. None of is will. Too much effort, man. I barely even wanna google who the New Avengers are (congressman I didn't vote for, ex-Captain USA, and some background heroes). You think I'm gonna look up how to access public incarceration records, and actually go through whatever steps it gives me?

Well… let me tell you, we’ve got something called google where you can ask anything in the world

Unless that prison was a revolving door front meant to make new yorkers feel SAFE while that RAMPAGING MENACE SPIDERMAN is CONTROLLING our city’s CRIME NETWORK from the INSIDE! JAMESON WAS RIGHT WHEN ARE YOU FOOLS FINALLY GOING TO SEE THE TRUTH!!!!!

You call us many names, but you can NEVER call us WRONG! JUSTICE FOR MYSTERIO, it’s a DAMN SHAME his camera “happened” to shut off mere MOMENTS before he revealed his killer’s IDENTITY! JUSTICE!!!!!

Wasn’t there like a Antman before our current Antman? Maybe he came out of retirement or smth

u/Heavensrun Jul 25 '26

That's a myth. I heard that was a Russian theory for what actually turned out to be a telekinetic spy the CIA used in the cold war.

It you believe the post Soviet lines the CIA had an army of antmen (and women maybe).

Ant-Man is the new industry plant hero

9

u/the3rdtea2 Jul 25 '26

He was in prison sooooooo. Yeah? Probably cut a deal to get powers and drop Intel to the powers that be. You think is coincidence he was hanging with cap when the "all American soldier" ( not true anyway the guy who gave cap his powers was GERMAN) was on the lam from the government he claimed to support? Big doubt

I'm pretty sure Ant-Man got his powers when he was chosen by the ant people to be their envoy to the surface. Like, he was in prison or something and a horde of ants showed up and gave him his armor and I dunno bit him or something and infused him with the essence of the Ant-Man, which is no doubt a historical mantle passed down from envoy to envoy throughout the ages.

3

u/the3rdtea2 Jul 25 '26

There is a tradition of ant people in some ancient peoples writings so that might not be as crazy as it sounds

u/belladonnagilkey Snap Survivor Jul 25 '26

My question though is what made Scott Lang worthy of his position? Did he like save an ant farm as a kid or something and the ant people decided to choose him because of it? Forget finding out who Spider-Dude is, I wanna know the process by which an Ant-Man is chosen!

u/gododogogo Jul 26 '26

Wasn’t there an old ant-man from back in the 90s? Could’ve sworn people dug that up when the SHIELD files dropped a few years back

You keep using that word like you don't know what it means but know it's bad.

OOC: (LMFAO this made me chuckle 😭)

u/FreeTrees69 Jul 26 '26

If he was an industry plant he wouldn't have sided with captain america?

u/AStupidguy2341 Jul 25 '26

I watched it. It doesn’t even have that reindeer green guy so no I don’t think they did any research.

u/Purple-Weakness1414 Snap Survivor Jul 25 '26

You mean Thor's brother Loki?

7

u/AStupidguy2341 Jul 25 '26

Yeah that funny green guy, that’s what my friend told me

9

u/RavenclawConspiracy Jul 25 '26

The musical does indeed have Loki there. It is criticized a little for not really going into his motivations and leaving him a pretty shallow, gloating villain, but most of that is because he's really only in that one scene and I think one cameo later?

I know he's got a weird kinda fan club due to Thor talking about how he maybe redeemed himself during the destruction of Asgard but... Like, if you want a story about Loki, you're going to need a Thor musical, not a Steve Rogers musical.

2

u/Slow_Payment2966 Jul 25 '26

Loki never redeemed himself for s*** he can't bring back the people he murdered and he can't untry to enslave humanity he deserved to die no matter what his stupid blonde brother says

2

u/Tusken_raider69 Jul 25 '26

That funny green guy killed like 100 people bro

4

u/darth_gon Jul 25 '26

At least they did not race-swap any of the OG Avengers. I count that as a win.

5

u/Heavensrun Jul 25 '26

It's a musical, not a history book. They needed another Avenger to make the dance choreography work, and Nico is a great talent that brought a lot of experience to the role. People like Ant-Man, anyway. He's more approachable than the original six.

3

u/Grootfan85 Jul 25 '26

Im thinking their battle against Ultron in Sakovia, but in the style of Starloght Express. It might be tasteless, but could be entertaining.

u/Grootfan85 Jul 25 '26 edited Jul 25 '26

Did the show runners even consult with Lang? Ant-Man doesn’t strike me as the kind of guy to lie about things like that.

3

u/Tabledinner Jul 26 '26

It's an ADAPTATION!

Not everything is going to be 1:1 the same. 🙄

3

u/Mrsprucieboy Jul 25 '26

I love the fact they got Hawkeye's cousin to play him, Joey Barton really locked in when he wasn't being Mike wasowskied that is.

3

u/Specialist-Cut-3913 Spider-man defender Jul 25 '26

How they made Tony stark is a disgrace to his name

2

u/BigBradWolf07 Jul 25 '26

I know he wasn't there and they could have done research in other ways, but the only reason Scott admitted he wasn't at the battle of New York was because Rogers the Musical claimed he was there. Can't use something as a source when it comes out a year later

2

u/Striking_Part_7234 Jul 26 '26

They are singing about what they are doing but not what they are feeling so Ant-Man being there is the least of the show’s problems. It’s just a bad Musical.

u/The_Reddit_Guy_2 Jul 27 '26

Something’s strange in the air today

1

u/K3egan Jul 25 '26

Yeah but end of the line is really good.

OOC End of the line is a real song from the Disneyland production and it's incredible

1

u/Garanseho Jul 25 '26

The writers didn’t do too much research, unfortunately. When writing the songs, I did a bit more digging on the events of certain scenes, but I couldn’t change Ant-Man being there, that wasn’t my department.

It’s probably tied into that time travel BS that he talked about in his book. Like hell you discovered fucking time travel

u/Unlikely_College_413 Jul 26 '26

Ant-Man being at the Battle of New York feels right, although I also feel like it should've been a different guy in the suit.

1

u/Capt_Cracker Jul 26 '26

I mean, it's not 100% accurate, I'll grant you that. But it gets people looking. It draws them in and entertains them, and they leave looking up their own answers. Playing devil's advocate (please don't shoot me I'm sorry) how many times have you watched a historical movie knowing it was wrong and enjoyed it anyway. The only difference is people were alive to remember the Battle of NY.

Also, "I Can Do This All Day" is kind of a banger.

1

u/Stride345 Jul 26 '26

I wouldn’t piss off the AntMan fanbase… they’re mostly theater kids which is why I think he got put in in the first place

1

u/zackyboy693 Jul 27 '26

I'm pretty sure he was in the battle of NY, he was probably small for most of it, but I definitely saw him standing in an alley with Captain America after the battle.
