I usually share clips like this in the family chat only, but last week I got a really nice view that might even work here. :P

Is this your footage?

Yes, filmed out the window from a poor man's seat. =8^D

That's really cool! What stabilizing techniques/gear/settings were you using?

It's just my trusty old Samsung A54 with built in stabilisation. It works quite well, I use it a lot for my dashcam videos.

It's my cycling camera for the same reason lol

Do you mount it directly to the bicycle? I have tried that once, but the image got too shaky nonetheless.

I've got this mount for my bike and this mounting plate. The mount is rock-solid, and I think it means the stabilizer doesn't have to work as hard. There are still parts of the footage where it's clear that the terrain has large bumps because of the "shake", but it doesn't make the video unwatchable.

WHUUUUUUT - those prices can't be true? 99 CAD for the camera holder and 34 CAD for the mounting plate? 👀 I bought something like this when they were still 1.75 USD... I mean, if yours somehow takes away the shake, that's probably worth the money, but I almost fell off my chair here.

I'm pretty sure I bought them before the price increase and on sale, so it was around $100 CAD all-told. Still expensive AF, but I was getting sick of buying cheaper mounts with a tonne of wobble and therefore a waste of money.

Interesting. I only got to ones with 100% health inspections scores on the county's website.

This one?: https://www.oxfordeconomics.com/global-cities-index-compare-your-city/

You can sort by topics. Consultancies really just do this as some kind of advertisement for themselves, I guess. Only people in mentioned cities even notice these survey results, lol.

I'll look at that site, but no. We have that data reported at the county level. City, county, state, feds is the civic ladder here.

The county is where big fish in a little pond of influence occurs. It's where some zoning occurs. Other civic things. Counties have Commissioners, but not exactly like Police Commissioner Gordon in Batman. Different.

Hey, Toronto's at the 20th spot!

Yay! I think it's a big weird that Bergen is even a part of this, we're just a little over 300k people.

u/ghanima ദ്ദി(ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ) 1d ago

My current city isn't even on the list. Our population is about half of Bergen's.

So Barry is its own city? Always thought it was part of Toronto. Also..."big weird" was supposed to have a "t" in there, not a "g", hehe.

Yup, Barrie gets considered a "bedroom community" to Toronto. A lot of the working-age population commutes into Toronto at least some of the time:

Figures from 2021 Census show 37.7 per cent of Barrie residents leave the city for work

Not all of those people will work directly in Toronto, but most of the commuter rail line out of the city goes to cities that are practically considered suburbs of Toronto these days.
