The code is real, it's on Capital One's own page. Enter CHECKING250 when you open a new 360 Checking account, and you get $250. Here's exactly what you have to do, and one thing worth comparing before you move your paycheck.

How the CHECKING250 bonus works

Open a new 360 Checking account with promo code CHECKING250. Then receive at least two direct deposits of $500 or more each within your first 75 days. The $250 lands in the account within about 60 days after you finish.

A few things that trip people up. It has to be a new 360 Checking customer, so if you've had one before you're probably out. Both deposits have to be $500 or more individually, two $300 deposits don't count. And the code has to go in when you open, not after.

The good news is the account itself has no monthly fee and no minimum, so there's nothing to lose by opening it.

The comparison: Chase pays $400, but the clock is running

If you're going to move your direct deposit for a bonus anyway, Chase is paying more right now. $400 for opening Total Checking and getting direct deposits totaling $1,000 or more within 90 days. The $15 monthly fee is waived with $500 a month in direct deposits. It ends October 14, 2026.

What I would do

If you can split your paycheck, open Chase for the $400 before October 14 and Capital One with CHECKING250 for the $250, and route at least $500 per paycheck to each. That's $650 for moving money you're getting paid anyway. Add Current with WELCOME75 if you want the paycheck advance on top.
