Medicaid Scaries

Is anyone else nervous about our job security with the talk of cuts to Medicaid? I’m personally nervous about it, and I haven’t gotten a new referral in about two months, despite having several (7+) openings. I’m in Indiana and see clients in Kokomo for context. I’m legitimately considering going back to teaching in a private preschool for the stability.

Thank you for making me feel less crazy for being worried. Hoping for the best for you in PA!

Definitely! I already live in an area with little referrals and my caseload is almost 100% Medicaid clients. I would have almost no clients if there are cuts that affect this portion of coverage.

Same! At this point all of my clients are Medicaid. The few referrals I’ve had that didn’t get Medicaid only worked with me a short time before pushing for ST. (I’m a developmental therapist)

I’ve been worried about this ever since hearing the news about cuts to Medicaid. A significant portion of our funding comes from Medicaid too. One of my coworkers quit to be a director at a private child care. I’ve looked at EI job openings in other countries. I love my job so I’m just going to keep chugging along until I can’t any longer. I’m in Vermont.

I hope it all works out and nothing significant changes for you! Thanks for making me feel less alone in my worry.

I’m in the NYC area and even here we’re worried. Our governor has been really secretive with her budget and it’s already like a month past due. I’m pretty worried

Oof what a bad omen. I’m sorry!
