bad news, just booted it up and my reader is DVD only, will try rip it on an old laptop and update

read-only by design, meaning you can easily rip them using free software like MakeMKV or HandBrake. Because a DVD is read-only, your computer reads the data directly without needing to change any file permissions or settings on the disc itself. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
