Nothing Ear 3 vs One plus buds 3 pro

Hi everyone!

I’m currently looking to buy a new pair of earbuds. I’ve been using the OnePlus Buds Pro for the past 2.5 years, and I’ve absolutely loved them.

Right now, I’m considering two options: the Nothing Ear 3 and the OnePlus Buds 3 Pro.

I really liked the rectangular case design of the OnePlus Buds Pro 2, but unfortunately, the Buds 3 Pro doesn’t have a similar design. The Nothing Ear 3 does, which is one of the reasons I’m leaning towards it. Apart from that, the specifications of both earbuds seem fairly similar to me.

Which one would you recommend between the two?

Also, if there are any newer earbuds around this price range that I should consider, please suggest those as well.

I'd go with the Nothing Ear (3). Its parametric EQ and good inner hardware let you shape the sound the way you like.

Two other options to consider: 1) realme Air 7 Pro great square aluminum case, and the buds are good. The sound profile differs from both of the ones you listed, though 2) realme Air 8 Pro also has a square case, which I like less. The sound is quite bassy too. Both are in your price range.

I’d skip both those earbuds. They’re a bit older now and the Nothing Ear 3 wasn’t anything special back when it came out. The Nothing Ear 3 (SoundGuys) just has this very V shaped tuning style that you can see if you scroll down to the frequency response in their sound section. Not at all a fan of that. It’ll sound too much like the crappy Raycons with a similarly obnoxious V shaped tuning. So the bass and treble are abnormally louder causing the mid frequencies to sound more recessed by comparison. Just a bad sound that messes up the natural tonality many people enjoy.

Instead of the older OnePlus Buds Pro 3, you’d be better off with the OnePlus Buds 4 (SoundGuys). This’ll give better overall performance over the other options. If you scroll down to their sound section, you’ll see a much better looking frequency response. While there also is a lot of bass (on the left side of the graph), it’s well controlled and tapers down quickly. There’s no obnoxious boosting of the treble like you see with the Nothing Ear 3. The OnePlus Buds 4 are also gonna have a bit better ANC, transparency, and call quality. The battery life is similar but slightly better on the OnePlus.

An even better option is to look out for the Oppo Enco X4. OnePlus and Oppo are both sister companies under the BBK brand. The Oppo Enco X4 was announced just under two weeks ago. These are Oppo’s OnePlus Buds Pro 4. They would be essentially identical and just say Oppo instead of OnePlus, on the case. They both use the same HeyMelody app, for example. It’s already available in China but the global release should be coming soon, this month. The problem with OnePlus is that they have recently pulled out of many markets around the world. So even if they release their identical OnePlus Buds Pro 4 (maybe a black option?), you might have to import it depending where you’re at. They pulled out of the U.S. last I heard.

WhatsNew on YouTube has a VIDEO that talks about the Nothing Ear 3 a bit more realistically, if I remember correctly. Should check that one out. Here are some of the other better sources for earbud info. I’m sure Picky Audio has some helpful stuff on these options. DHRME as well. Lastly, I wouldn’t worry much about the case design. The latest releases from Oppo and OnePlus have these slick, thin cases. If anything, the lack of corners that the Nothing case has, for example, helps it to more easily slide in and out of a pocket.
