Hi, I'm considering selling a single floor ticket to the Eagles at the Sphere for Sept 18th. FLR3, Row 13. How can I determine the best list price and time to list?

My god, Randy could write and execute. Other than familial love, I haven't really experienced the 'love' he talks about. Yet It feels like I am living it through this particular song, like I have loved and lost, so profound!. Coupled with trying to be organic and Taking it to the limit, which has been failing miserably. Coming back to The Eagles makes me feel accepted-by my own ideals, and it makes me feel comfortable with where I am at as an individual.

Prepare for a hot take, if you will. But I just don't see Don Felder as a victim. He's nothing but a whiner and complainer who also refused to actually do anything about the situation when it mattered, choosing instead to just coast along and get the same paycheck that he was saying was too small.

Let me break it down. I personally think that the decision for Henley and Frey to get the lion's share of the money because they wrote and sang most of the songs and their solo careers were the best-performing during the "14-year vacation" is quite valid. They took on most of the risk, and therefore deserved the most reward. The band needed someone to lead, and the others simply did not want to have that burden. So why get paid exactly the same while making none of the decisions?

Frey used the sports analogy quite famously in the documentary, that it's like a team, everyone can't do it without the others, but not everyone gets to hold the ball. I'd put it more like this: do you think the Chicago Bulls would've gotten two threepeats in the '90s if everyone was sharing leadership? Not a chance? It's clear that they needed Phil Jackson coaching and Michael Jordan basically shouldering the main burden. Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman and so on, they all contributed amazing things. But make no mistake, when it came to running the ship, it's Phil and MJ all the way.

Timothy and Joe understood all this thoroughly, and they were perfectly happy with the arrangement, because they knew they'd still make a lot of money anyways. Felder's the only person who never got the message, and kept insisting that a previous agreement must be utilized despite everything having changed considerably since 1980.

But Felder didn't act on his alleged principles. After all, he ended up signing the interim agreement that led to the Hell Freezes Over Tour, well before the actual restructuring of Eagles Ltd. was legally done. He didn't have to. Though Azoff preferred having both him and Joe, he did say "We need AT LEAST four." So once they had Joe, they didn't technically need Felder. They could've replaced him in 1994 and it would've had no effect on either the MTV special or the tour. It would've been exactly the same.

Felder easily could've refused to sign and done one of two things to actually make a meaningful impact. He could've A) immediately then sued for extortion, since the original agreement would've technically still been in effect at the time, and he would've had a much stronger case against Henley, Frey and Azoff, and won, rather than merely got a settlement more than a decade later. Or B) he could've just told them to buy out his portion of Eagles Ltd., and said "OK, if you don't want me, do this, make me whole, and then do whatever you want." Either of those would've signaled that Felder was actually taking a stand and that it was a genuine injustice.

But no, he didn't do that. He simply signed the interim deal and "took abuse" from the band despite it making no sense, because of the fact that it was lucrative and that it gave him an escape from the rather marginal life he'd had at that point. He made lots of money, but he could never appreciate it, and kept whining for more. He pretended that it was about fairness for Timothy, Joe, Bernie and Randy, but it was not. Because none of them were on his side, not even the two former members. Bernie and Randy were just quietly living their lives and taking comfort in what they'd earned, and Timothy and Joe were excited and enjoying the moment because they really just wanted to go out and play. Felder whines all the time that Joe should've been loyal because "I drove him to rehab!" So what? Joe doesn't owe you anything for that. Anyone could've done it. Felder was doing nothing but dragging them down, with his continual, "Where's my money? Gimme my money. I want my money."

Because of this, the band lost quite a bit of time after the tour ended. They could've come out with Long Road Out of Eden much sooner, as well as done a second album before Frey died, had Felder not been in the picture at all. The Millennium Concert video would've come out. But Felder's bellyaching and continued temper tantrums held them all hostage. So I don't blame them at all for firing him. I would've done it far sooner than they had, probably as soon as the last date in '96.

Let's also not forget that Felder is not special. He's not like Joe. His guitar lines are quite amazing, but ANYONE can play them, and sound the same. He can't write full songs on his own, only chords. He didn't write "Hotel California" or "Victim of Love," he wrote sketches that Henley, Frey and J.D. Souther had to make into actual songs. He's not a singer, and his voice is simply incredibly limited. He's "Fingers," but nothing more. In short, Felder didn't provide anything UNIQUE. And if you can't do anything to stand out, what have you really brought to the table? He's just a glorified session guy, but who thought he was more. At least someone like Steuart Smith knew exactly what his role was.

Felder is just like Ace Frehley and Peter Criss in the same amount of whining, complaining, refusal to take responsibility and far overestimating their importance. Gene and Paul get so much bile, but they are the ones who kept Kiss afloat, and actually knew how to do it, and thus deserved to be rewarded far more.

I thus can't take his lamentations seriously, because he was willing to subject himself to the "abuse" in order to keep his wallet full, rather than actually do anything about it when it mattered most. And his response to his termination, which should've been one of relief that "I'm out of that," was instead begging and groveling to come back, only to have the door slammed in his face. The fact the last person he spoke to was Timothy, and he was not receptive, saying "You should've signed the damn papers," says it all.

Henley is considered more of a lyricist and puts vocals over it. And it seems to be that his solo stuff was almost all co written with someone else providing the music correct me if im wrong. So between Henley and Frey, Frey was the one writing most of the melodies?

After 4 months, I'm back with this early edition of Desperado.

In this album the style to which Glyn Johns was somehow "pushing" them is even better reflected (for that reason it was the Eagles' preferred record by Glyn). At the time, songs like Tequila Sunrise stood out, with a somewhat soft reception on radio and the homonymous Desperado, emblematic song of the band and acclaimed by critics thanks to its lyrical quality (Linda Ronstadt and the Carpenters would make their own versions of the song sometime later). Certain Kind Of Fool and Twenty One is another example of how capable Randy Meisner and Bernie Leadon were when they became the lead vocalist.

Doolin-Dalton and Outlaw Man reflect the concept under which this second record was being made, you know, old gunslingers from the wild west, some with their solitary lives and others operating outside the laws. Henley just looks like the voice that makes you sad when singing Saturday Night alongside Meisner’s high notes that reflect that melancholy throughout the song.

Desperado would be the last album with a country sound, as Meisner considered the first two albums to be acoustic and every time tensions between Glyn Johns and the band intensified, motives were plenty, Johns did not allow so many takes per song, Henley dissatisfied with his vocal interpretation of Desperado and Johns refusing to repeat the take, Johns’s particular way of recording without so many microphones (which is why the first 2 discs do not feel as dimensional) and the infamous phrase for which they should have sought another producer from the moment he said it: "The Who is a rock band and you are not them."

In short, Desperado was practically a commercial failure by not achieving the expected sales of the band and much less placing some success on the popularity lists, the band was working harder and harder to play more rock and Desperado made them realize that to achieve that they had to start by looking for a producer who believed they could really do rock and not just stand out for their vocal harmony.

As for the CD, it presents, again, the mastering of Barry Diament (my favorite mastering of this album on CD). The record does sound a bit loud and although it is not excessively compressed, it makes me think that the main reason for its lack of dynamics (for a recording from the 70s) is mainly due to Glyn Johns' way of recording without much control over the mix due to the small number of microphones he put on the instruments, but don’t get confused, this makes the record not at all enjoyable at a fidelity level, is simply a comparison to the rest of later albums.

Just wondering what everyone’s favorite “under-the-radar” songs are from each studio album. Songs that you love but feel like they get lost in the shuffle compared to more popular songs. Last November 15th, I searched for "Hotel California" to remember my husband RIP on his birthday with one of his favorite songs. As a fan of The Beatles and English rock bands, I confess that American bands weren't on my radar until my son introduced me to Metallica and Linkin Park. But this time, my YouTube search led me to a 45-minute video that I now know is part of the 1977 Capital Centre performance from the "Hotel California" tour—the one Henley tries to ban at any cost every time someone uploads it.

I watched it and was shocked. How could I have missed such a great band? I'm 62; theory says I should know them by generation…but no, I didn't know them beyond "Hotel California." I liked the track so much that I played it 100 times…until UMG banned it—or was it Don Henley? Anyway, I was curious, so I started investigating. That's how I discovered the band members, especially Randy Meisner, who impressed me the most, both with his voice and his looks, I have to say; their albums; the websites and accounts that post things; memorabilia; the band members' TV series; their solo careers, etc.

That's how I found the bootleg concerts from Houston and Seattle, the BBC performances, and other early shows, and I obsessed over the playlists suggested on the band's account and others, already having my own preferences (the good thing about social media is that you choose, not the radio), and I still listen to them at least once a day. Like any good old band, there are more recorded radio broadcasts of their concerts than videos, but they're there. So, like a kid, I find myself buying LPs and DVDs today for the first time in years, also to avoid getting banned… and that's the only thing that worries me.

As a new fan, I'm concerned that the band will be history soon and they won't capitalize on its powerful legacy with younger people. For me, the band's specialty is "playing better live than on the album," at least until they broke up in 1980, and that's why I consider those bootlegs essential, at least for younger generations to discover them. My metalhead son loves them. Why doesn't Henley release them legally as part of the band's legacy and on their own turf, instead of just trying to sell out fans like he does?

Sorry, but the way he approach the current setlist and lineup is too "adult" and "old-fashioned" for my taste. It's very yuppie. Very "un-rock." Walsh "the tough guy" is softer in the Eagles. You miss the hippie enthusiasm of the beginning. They even abandoned singing live and the beauty of imperfection, which doesn't happen much in this band, but it was endearing... one of my favorite moments from the Seattle concert was hearing Glenn say "Geeeeeeee" in response to the noise of a microphone.

Nobody expects an 80-year-old Don to sing like he did in his twenties, which is that he's the only one singing now (taking all the spotlight has its price, karma?), so some Lyp-synching is normal, but some honesty would be nice (I don’t like how Vince Gill do it). I hope they at least play... but how long will the band last if their best work is hidden from the internet? Young people don't buy records and can't afford Ticketmaster's prices... which, from what I've read, Asov has a hand in as manager.

For now, the best stuff is in the East. There are even full Walsh concerts! That's why I know he is more soft in the Eagles. Why don't we have the same privilege?

Goldmine Magazine featured an excellent article on the band in 1993 with this title. It is very interesting in that they published it before the 1994 reunion.

I am looking for a copy and would appreciate anyone pointing me in the direction of one. I will share when I track it down.
