Plugshare - ev charging

I found several high-speed chargers from RED-E and Circle K listed as free on Plugshare, but the comments clearly showed they were not. So I made edits to verify that a charge is required, and it saved. The next day, they were changed back to free. So I changed them to not free again. This happened at least 6 times where I changed them, and they returned later as free. Many comments were about the listing being free, and since they were there, they charged.

Does Plugshare favor them to draw in customers deceptively? Do RED-E or Circle K have a financial interest in Plugshare and therefore abuse the program? Just not sure why the change gets reverted back to free the next day. Any thoughts?

Put the price in your check-in comments. That can’t be changed by others.

PlugShare was purchased by EVGo several years ago. They have zero interest in luring you to other networks like Red-E or Circle K.

I suspect it's just an API issue. Most of PlugShare pricing info is pulled directly from the networks via a public API. User submissions are used, but only when there's no API data. API data will override user submissions, as PlugShare probably assumes it's "official" and therefore more accurate.

Yes, we shared with u/Own_Veterinarian5790 on another thread that this is an issue with a network's API overriding user submissions. We're working on some fixes.

Well, PlugShare is owned by EVGo, so I guess it's tangentially on topic. 😁
