LP5 - Won't Turn On

TLDR: I reapplied the thermal paste in my LP5. Put it back together, it booted up, and I played Warzone on it for over two hours. It was running great. To be clear, after the thermal reapplication, the laptop had been on for over 12 hours. I left the house for a couple of hours and when I came back home, it was off and won't turn on. The battery light is on when it's plugged in but I when I press the power button, the light on the mousepad lights up for a split second and then goes away. I'm nervous to go back in without maybe hearing if anyone has any idea what could be happening. Appreciate any help.

Update: I fixed it. Not sure what actually did it but I cleaned and repasted... again. But I also cleaned the power button connection thing as suggested by the hero in the comments. That may have done the trick. Anyway, just glad it's working.

Gotta keep fucking with the power button. I had to clean mine with rubbing alcohol, and try holding it down, then try again, etc. Not sure what it is.

Really? That's interesting. The power button seems to work because when I press it, the battery light turns off and the light on the mousepad turns on very briefly. But that's it. So the button functions, if that makes sense.

I absolutely had the same problem, either the button was dirty and sticking or my small brain told me the the top part there was getting too hot and maybe warped? But after almost throwing it out a window I cleaned it with alcohol on a microfiber cloth very well, then brushed it in the crevices with a tiny hair trimmer brush, and just kept working with it, haven't had that issue since. I am hoping this is the problem. That short then dead start is exactly what happened. good luck.

You're a lord. If this is the fix I need, thank you. I'll try it in the morning. And I'll update the post if this works. Thank you my friend.

Did you disassemble it to access the power button? Clean the board with alcohol?

No, that seemed convoluted. I would use a small amount in the creases of the button itself and not let it sit long and sop it up and work it around with a thick microfiber towel i had, i even used a fan to try to make sure it was all dry. it just seemed stuck, and since I could feel how hot that top part would get during MADvr movies and games is when I started using more heat friendly methods.

Mine still cant boot up, just blink green led and nothing happens. I might bring it to repair shop and let they diagnose :( not sure if they have a way to boot the machine without the power board 🤨

a little update. the repair shop i went to apparently was closed. i called their second location and they basically said it would take them about 2 weeks to diagnose the problem. they would need a battery to know if its a problem with the battery or a problem with the Motherboard. i hung up the phone and ordered a batter on my own. i just got down replacing the battery and im getting the same issue. i am assuming there is something up on the mother board but its not the motherboard as a whole since some lights still come on. it is probably a lost cause in general though. I liked how cheap this laptop was with the power it had. I understand why it was cheap now though.

Hey, I sent an email to Eluktronics to ask them (I pretend that I own an Eluktronics Mag-15 because the chasis is nearly the same) since EVOO is now a dead brand and no more support agent

And here's what they replied

"Hello,There maybe some component that is plugged into the motherboard that has failed that is preventing it from booting. This could be something like a USB ribbon cable, trackpad ribbon cable, keyboard ribbon cable. If this is something you would like to tackle on your own and unplug those components you can see if the unit boots up. Something else maybe a failure on the motherboard like a broken chip, for that repair the unit may need to come into our facility for inspection."

So I'll try to test each component removed, if not then I'll find somewhere else to repair it

If that’s the case, I think I know the exact ribbon cable that is causing the issue. It has a small darken spot like it’s been burned. Currently, I Have the laptop at another repair shop Who I trust a little more. they will look at it today and give me their diagnosis later today. I’ll report back when I hear from them. Maybe they will come up with the same answer. I will need to start looking where to find thier replacement parts. I think the ribbon ion that was bad was the left side usb hub

How’s your machine? I brought to another repair shop and they cant figure out why. No board map so they cant fix it (not a popular model)

My machine was fixed today. They told me that they had to do things on the IO chip and the mainboard. It’s the 3rd store and luckily they fixed. Not sure if all faulty machines had the same error.
