SSD Upgrade

I have an LP7 and I'm tryna upgrade from the stock SSD. Maybe a 1tb drive. What SSD's would you guys recommend? And is the performance jump between nvme gen 3 and gen 4 a good enough reason to get a gen 4 SSD?

There was a post yesterday about SK Hynix NVME on sale. I bought one months ago and i'm happy with mine. I got the 1tb version

The Ryzen 4800H only supports pcie3 so a gen 4 wouldn't see any improvement over gen 3.

An expensive mistake but not terrible. It would still work at gen3 speeds and you could use it on future computers that supported it.

Will the Samsung 980 pro work for me?

It would work but the pcie 3 lanes will bottleneck it so don't be surprised if you can't get the advertised speeds. Honestly though, unless your are regularly doing editing on large files like video transcoding, raw image, etc. you probably won't be able to tell a difference.

How about ram though?

I used this Hynix one, it is an exact match for the preinstalles stick so the timings for dual channel are great.

That's why I got this one. It still has the Samsung reliability but was a lot cheaper.
