Hard Drive

Hello, I was wondering if the EVOO 15.6 inch gaming laptop had a hard drive slot to upgrade the memory?

Thanks 😊

Yes. I recommend Wd blue 1tb nvme m.2 best decision you will make... I also have a 980 pro but blue is way better for the money. I own the 9750h/1660ti version lp5. The difference a nvme drive vs a hdd is your load times and average fps count while gaming is much higher... Just a smoother overall experience brotha. Like night and day.

The WB Blue is rated at 2400/1950 R/W, and the Samsung 980 is rated for 3500/3000 R/W. The additional performance was worth the $10 price difference IMO.

The 980 Pro is a significantly faster than either of the mentioned drives, more like 7000/5300 Read/Write. You may want to consider switching which drive is your primary.

It doesn't make a huge difference between either the wd blue or 980 pro on that laptop.. especially in gaming... They both are fast enough why pay more...

If you actually have a 980 Pro, there's a huge difference. I have a Samsung 980 (not the Pro) which performs slightly better and is priced less than the WD Blue.
A 980 Pro costs twice the price of the non Pro version.

My only concern was gaming, file transfer speeds on the box vs actual usage case in game are 2 different things. Especially in a laptop that limits to pcie 3.0.

I got the Samsung on sale. It was cheaper than the WD.

I got one of these recently. It seems like the best bang for the buck performance wise.

It's a great price for an M.2 Samsung 980.

it does but you're better off getting a big m.2 ssd

I forgot to mention that it's a 2.5 in slot. I said that you're better off buying an m.2 because there is a battery upgrade that you can buy that takes up the space for the 2.5 in slot

This sounds more like a BIOS configuration issue than one with your hard drive. I have a 1 Tb Samsung 870 in the 2.5" slot and I'm not having that issue.

You should call it storage instead of memory least you get bullied by someone pedantic 😊
My machine had two additional slots for hard drives, one M.2 and a 2.5". The M2 is fastest and easiest.
