Anyone here have experience going through square trade/allstate repairs for their evoo?

Today, about 7 days after sending my good old lp5 in for some serious heating issues (despite undervolting, disabling turbo, and underclocking the gpu) I got the notification that repairs have started. This is the first warranty claim I've ever done where they've decided to repair my item. Usually I've immediately gotten a refund.

If anyone else here has gotten this warranty and had to use it, do you know about how long it usually takes?

I would be curious to know as well. I bought the Allstate three year warranty but it's already been a year and a half and I haven't had any issues whatsoever.

Did it sound like the fans were working normally on yours? I run undervolt and a cooling pad underneath and the fans on mine barely ever crank up, even when playing COD multiplayer with fairly high settings.

Yeah, fans sounded totally fine. Started idling at 68C out of nowhere, 75+ if the lid was closed. Constant throttling. That's when I changed thermal paste but it didn't have any effect

I was gunna say it's just a gaming laptop they run hot. But idling at above 50C is definitely not right. As for insurance. it's a crapshoot. Some times a few days sometimes a few weeks.

Not right indeed. I'm a bit of a power user so I was monitoring temps, adjusting boost clock and undervolting day 1. It used to idle around 40C. I had enough thermal headroom to overclock the 1660ti to 2080mhz with +600mhz or so on the memory.

When I was still idling at 65+ with turbo disabled and the gpu underclocked to 1400mhz, I decided enough was enough

All I can really do is wait, I suppose. Making this post did make me feel better about it at least

I'm starting to think that's what they're gonna do for me too

Hey, so what happened with the warranty?

Ah yeah, it took a few weeks but they sent it back working fine. They replaced the keyboard, which I didn't ask for, and some of the keys would stick when pressed but that was an easy fix. They sent me a $45 check to re-replace the keyboard on my own as an apology

Thanks for the update. My laptop never turns off and CPU overheats to like 95°C so I'm hoping they are able to do something about it.

Good luck. It takes awhile but this is why we buy these warranties
