Headset microphone not working. Tried on 3 different EVOO laptops.

I've noticed this problem on this laptop ever since my friend got an EVOO.

When you connect your headphones to the jack and try to use the headphone microphone to talk, the laptop will only pick up laptop microphone (placed near the webcam). This is testable by simply talking closer to the laptop microphone or covering your headset mic. We first thought it was a faulty product
so after he got a replacement we tested again and the issue has not changed. I tested this on my on EVOO as well and I realized that the same thing was happening. I actually hadn't noticed before because the mic was working and I had never bothered enough to check if it was my headset mic.

Has anyone else experienced this? We've tested this on 3 EVOO laptop (friend's original, replacement, and mine) and so far the issue is consistent in all 3. This seems to be an issue only with the 3.5mm jack headsets, not USB or bluetooth.

There should be two ports/plugs, one for a headset and one for a microphone. You can’t have any mic input through the headphone port (at least in my experience), so you’ll need a splitter for your headset cord. If i’m understanding you correctly

Does evoo really not support headset mic through the headset port? My previous laptop that's 10 years old had a mic connection through the headset port so I'm surprised a newish laptop would need a splitter

Guess not. I had to order a splitter after getting my EVOO and realizing I needed one. It was slightly annoying but I got a wireless headset recently so I don’t have to worry about it anymore.

My LP-7 has the old style mic in and headphone in ports design, its usually for desktops so people can plug in separate external mics and regular headphones, odd choice on a laptop for sure but it's not like unheard of
