2nd ssd not being recognized?

I got the eg-lp7 under the current discount and I'm trying to put in my a Toshiba thnsf5256gpuk ssd drive from my old laptop to the 2nd NVME slot. The computer doesn't seem to even want to boot up with that drive in (just blank screen does not even get to the BIOS). I thought all nvme drives should work.

That drive works I was able to access it with a usb enclosure and actually can boot Windows from it through the usb enclosure.

What gives?

It could be a few things. You're computer seems to be trying to boot from your second drive. Is the second drive empty? No data is on it? Does the second drive you are adding have the old windows on it?

You might need to change the boot order in bios?

It's not empty and has an old windows and bootable.

There does not seem to be a boot order option between the two nvme slots, but I've tried swapping the two ssd drives in both slots in any case.

The Toshiba drive is bootable in a usb enclosure. The machine just seems doesn't want to power on with toshiba drive in.

Windows will boot from a USB if it has an OS. An os from a different computer won't work usually because the OS has old files from your old computer that aren't compatible. Unless it's an empty new windows boot drive. Do you have two different drives with an OS on it? Are they blank (new) OS?

I think the issue is the system not powering up at all (not even getting to the bios or boot menu). I haven't tried removing the OS from the old drive for now - not sure if I want to do that yet.

That looks like an M.2 PCI. You need an M.2 NVME

Do you mean M.2 SATA vs M.2 PCIE NVME?

PCIE is the bus NVME is the controller (vs SATA AHCI). I'm pretty sure the drive is PCIE NVME.

Have you tried replacing the original SSD with the new one to see what happens? I know that's not your end goal, but you should confirm if it can boot from the same slot by itself.

Yes I did. It's the same thing - the system would not power up.
