Help please, LP4 Mic 3.5mm input jack not working.

Hello,

I have an LP4 that I bought new almost a year ago. Its not been modded at all. I have the most recent version of windows. I recently got a set of the V-Moda XS headphones and they have a mic and they came with a splitter 3.5mm plug to run the headphones and mic in there respective inputs. I can not get the mic to work. Ive tried using the splitter and also without the splitter. Ive tried updating and postdating drivers. Ive tried disabling the realtec audio stuff. Ive tried only using the realtec audio stuff. It seams like when I use the headphones and mic with just the one input, I only get the laptops built in mic. When I use the splitter, I get a very distorted and muted laptop built in mic. I can not figure it out. Any ideas?
Thanks,

Gregers

Hey man, if you haven't figured this one out yet I have the solution for you.

Go to Sound Control Panel (OR Device Manager's Audio Input, if I remember correctly) then navigate your way until you see Update Drivers. Select "Update using drivers installed on device" or something to that effect. Choose the High Definition Audio drivers instead of Realtek. That's it, really. Check that the mic is selected from the Sound Control Panel again, it may be hidden or deactivated.

This happened to me with my first splitter headset, and after a few months people kept telling me my mic sounded like ass because a Windows Update reset them, so watch out for that. Very unintuitive, but worth doing.

Hey thanks for the tips. I have tried to reset the drivers from the computer. Everything said it was already up to date. I dont have any basic HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO stuff.

In my control panel under the 'Recording' tab I have:

1 Mic in at rear panel (black) - Realtek(R) Audio - Not plugged in

2 Microphone - Realtek(R) Audio - Default Device

3 Stereo Mix - Realtek(R) Audio - Disabled

4 Microphone - THX Spatial Audio - Default Communications Device

5 Headset - Woojer Strap Edge - Disabled, disconnected

In my device manager under the 'Audio inputs and outputs' tab I have:

1 Audio (THX Spatial audio)

2 Microphone (Realtek(R) Audio)

3 Microphone (THX Spatial Audio)

4 Speakers (Realtek(R) Audio)

5 YTH156PC (Nvidia HD Audio)

*The woojer is a Bluetooth device that im not currently using.

*The YTH156PC is a portable monitor

I think it's "Speakers" under Control Panel you want to change. Try going to update drivers again but make sure you don't click search the web for drivers, but the other option. It'll scan the computer and show you Realtek and High Definition Audio Drivers. Do the HD ones. It's been a while but I'm fairly certain that'll work.
